Bible Study Sharing The Truth In Love -Eph 4:15

Greetings in Christ to the beloved saints in Christ! May God's Spirit use us to learn, grow and share "the truth in love" (Eph 4:14)!

My name is Bob and I spend most of my Bible studies in the category of "spiritual growth" because I believe there exists a dearth of spiritual growth within the lives of contemporary Christians due to the lack of desire for Scriptural knowledge.

For about the last decade I've been experiencing significant growth in my fellowship with God (more than my preceding 25 years in Christ) due to a deeper understanding of the primary truths of the doctrines of Christ, i.e. "For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat' (Heb 5:12). Paul admonishes us “to go on to maturity†by progressing “from the elementary principles of Christ†(Heb 6:1), which of course can only possible by increasing our knowledge and understanding (Spirit-taught—not self-taught) of God’s word.

I'm certain that a believer’s union with God cannot vary, "For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable" (Rom 11:29), but our fellowship with Him varies in proportion to our life styles, which can mature from the “meat†of the word (Heb 5:12) or remain immature as milk-only babes of the word (Heb 5:13 NKJ). Regardless of the condition of our fellowship with God, He is unrelentingly causing us to "Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you" (Jam 4:8). In this accomplishment we cannot rely on ourselves, "For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure" (Phil 2:13).

Thanks to the teachings of the "Identification Truths" within the doctrines of Dispensationalism, God has increased my hunger for His Word, which compels me to desire the same for others. I believe the spiritual growth author Miles J Stanford (temporarily absent from this life) has taught well in the spiritual growth category and has made it available through WithChrist.org.

Thanks Brother, for your devotion to Him. I appreciate your heart.

One of the greatest spiritual assets we have as believers is the Holy Spirit.

The word of God is so dynamic and powerful, full of wisdom and truth, however there seems to be so many different perceptions as to what even the most foundational and basic scriptures really mean.

We are warned against "ever learning" yet never coming to the knowledge of the truth, which is to say never experiencing the truth we learn.

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 Timothy 3:1-7

One of the greatest assets we have unto spiritual growth is our own ability stimulate this growth by building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit... Jude 20

and again -

26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 1 John 2:26-27

John is referencing Jeremiah 31:31 as the new covenant provision, where God Himself teaches us and interacts with us, as well as reveal kingdom truths to us as shown with Peter when Jesus asks who do you say I am?

The foundation that Jesus builds His Church on is that God Himself speaks to us directly and leads us and guide us into all truth!

Of course The Lord has given us Teachers as well as Pastors and Prophets and Apostles and Evangelists. However The intent of the New covenant is for us to go on to perfection and be led by His Spirit!

God bless you as you seek Him and are led of Him.

Hi JLB and God's blessings to you! You are right that "there seems to be so many different perceptions as to what even the most foundational and basic scriptures really mean."

I believe the lack of interest in the Scriptures among many Christians is due to the lack of learning more fully of basic bible doctrines as we've both mentioned and I believe this has led to the lack of enough foundational structure to understand and be drawn to the deeper truths of God's Word.

It's not a "back to basics" problem but a "haven't learned enough of the basics yet' problem.

Any believers finding themselves without enough interest to be hungry for the Word, like in their early Christian years, will become hungry by asking God for it.

Word-exposer is the quickest way to resolving this issue. We read it, He makes it happen!
