Shoes For Moses
Many people wonder what it would be like to go before God and give him a piece of their mind. That did happen to Moses. Moses went before God. But before Moses could approach God, God had a curious request. God requested that Moses take off his shoes, ie, sandals.
Exodus 3:5New International Version (NIV)
5 “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”
It is clear that sandals, or any other shoe, is a sign of man elevating himself above God. Holy ground is a place where everyone must submit to the authority and supremacy of God and therefore lower himself and go barefoot.
Today when you look at society you see an attitude of sinfulness where people desire to place themselves above God by wearing shoes that will elevate them in height and stature such as high heels. There are also many other examples of man trying to elevate himself above God in the bible like the Tower of Babel.
Isn't it ironic that many churches, who purport to be a place of Holiness, will cram as many items such as statues of human figures into a church as they possibly can. Statues are a sign of man elevating himself over God. Statues in a church is like filling a church with nothing but shoes which will only have the effect of driving God away.
When you look at churches with a propensity to worship statues God is clearly absent and Satan moves in with his evil like promiscuity, homosexuality, and a cravenness desire for grandeur.
Some religions go in the opposite direction and make people kneel and prostrate themselves to show an elevated humility that surpasses God's own son Jesus Christ's humbleness in becoming a man and dying on the cross for all of our sins.
When God made Moses take off his sandals two things were evident. That man was not to elevate himself above God, this by God having Moses take off his sandals. And God did not request Moses to kneel and prostrate himself in front of God for that represents God's son Jesus Christ humbling himself and becoming a man to die for all of our sins.
If you desire to be acceptable before God then just believe in God's son Jesus Christ who is God become man. He is the only acceptable person to stand before God because he did not elevate himself above his father and yet simultaneously he humbly submitted to the father that never surpassed God the Father's love for us. It was the perfect worship of God the Father both in praise and humility that no man can exceed.
If you want to be sure that you are worshiping God with perfect holiness then just believe in the death and resurrection of God's son Jesus Christ, God become man, and rest assured that your worship is pleasing to God....forever!
God Bless
note:
Jesus Christ did nothing on his own. Jesus Christ relied on the leading of God the Father and God the Holy Spirit so as to not elevate himself above God in any way. Amen
