So why would Jesus make this statement ? :confused

Luke 22:36
Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Well, if someone wants to take my purse, he can go right on ahead. I have no use for it. :lol

But we can't hide the fact, that swords were used for protection, or fighting, and killing, as well as hunting man and beast. And Jesus is saying go buy one, and sell your stuff to get it. Sooooo what do you think ? :confused
