Should the man be allowed any planning of the wedding?

Should the man be allowed any planning of the wedding? I have heard many say that only women and the woman's family should plan the wedding and that the man should have no part in it. I would want to be involved in my wedding plans if I get married someday. But some say "do whatever she wants". But is that really the way it should be?

This, I think, is very much a cultural thing. In England - at least within the primarily Christian circles I run in - both the bride and groom have input into the wedding. My fiancée is American, and found it surprising that I would want input - however, she's wonderful and has taken my suggestions into account wherever possible. :)

Timothy had a big part in planning our wedding. Many of the ideas came from me and my mother, but nothing was planned without his approval. The thing is though, that most of the time men don't have that much of a preference with things like that....they just aren't wired to think that way. Women are usually the one's getting all excited over the little flowery issues, so it would only make sense that it's usually women who plan weddings. But to the guys out there who want to take an active part in their wedding plans, GO FOR IT! It's your wedding too, and contrary to popular sayings....it is NOT the Bride's day, it's is BOTH of yours! :yes

I was involved in our wedding plans, I would say it is up to the couple. Me and my wife had a beautiful outdoor wedding that both of us planned out, then we had a Church wedding

Steve and I planned our wedding together. Steve personally picked a lot of the music he wanted to be played at the reception. I also had to come up with one more bridesmaid because he had to have certain friends to stand with him.

However, as far as things like decorating and flowers and such, that I pretty much did on my own. My sisters, mom and nieces and I all had fun with that part.
