Should The Rich Be Buying Gold Now?

No sir! No ma'am! Because the Bible predicted in James chapter 5 that they would be hoarding gold and silver. And they are. Watch Fox "News" and the viewers are constantly being bombarded with offers to sell them gold. The Bible said in James 5 the rich have defrauded the workers of their wages. They will be crying unto God, the Lord of sabaoth, and He will hear them and side in with them. "Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth." James 5:1-4.

It goes on to say the coming of the Lord is near at this time. God will judge the rich. Notice it doesn't differentiate between rich Christians or the rich who aren't Christians. I don't see much difference myself. The only way the rich can get to heaven is if they liberally and generously help the poor when they ask for it, and most of them aren't doing that. Jesus Christ told us in the Sermon on the Mount "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven." And we do that by giving to the poor. See Luke 12:33,34. http://www.squidoo.com/tithes-and-offerings

The Bible also says we are to be good stewards of the blessings God's given us.

Depending on your intentions, buying gold can be an investment just like any other investment, such as buying a house or buying a business.

Do you believe it is wrong to save up for retirement? Or do you believe it is wrong to buy life insurance so that your family is take care of if you die? Is it wrong to have a savings account? If not, how much is it OK to save?

While I do agree with you that hoarding wealth so that you can live in luxury while everyone around you is living in squaller would be a good example of the passage you quoted, it seems a little legalistic to wholesale condemn anybody that buys gold.
