I don't think anyone, including Abraham, was commanded to keep the Sabbath until Exodus 31:

Sabbath was a special sign of the covenant between God and the Israelites after exiting Egypt.

In the NT, Jesus healed on the Sabbath in John 5:

According to the Jewish authority, Jesus broke the Sabbath and Jesus told P1 to break the Sabbath. The Pharisees saw sins as external behaviors. See e.g., The 39 Categories of Sabbath Work Prohibited By Law. Jesus shifted the focus to the heart where sin originated (Matthew 5:28).

Paul had this to say in Romans 14:

Should we keep the Sabbath?

According to Paul, it is up to the individual believers. Further, we should not judge others about Sabbath, Colossians 2:

If you keep the Sabbath, are you going to keep the punishment?

Numbers 15:

The weekly Sabbath is only a shadow of the true Sabbath rest. Once we have the true reality, there is no need to chase after the shadows.

As I said, I saw nothing positive about regular Sunday Services.

First of all if anyone has a day they observe as Holy before the Lord then that is between them and the Lord and that should not be seen in a negative way in regard to them. But then neither shall they judge those whose faith allows them not to keep that day. For we all belong and stand before the same Lord.

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

We are all baptized into Christ's death and we shall all be raised in His resurrection.

Paul's perspective as one born and bound under the law.
But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code

There is no longer a theocracy of Israel at this time.
Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Hey All,
My statement is logical. You disagreed with Mungo and me.

"We disagree." Quote from WalterandDebbie

Show us how you get a 6000 year creation time from Genesis 1. I showed you my logic. You show us yours. Moses specifically puts it as:

Genesis 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Moses is describing physical time "evening and morning;" not imaginary. "The first day" is also specific.

If what you are saying is true, that this first day represents 1000 years, then the Bible starts out in the first chapter lying to us. Why, then, should I trust anything it says. (As Ricky Ricardo would say, "Lucy! Ju got some splainin to do!")
Keep walking everybody.

We understand what you are saying but for some reason, you will not understand what is written.

We understand what you are saying but for some reason, you will not understand what is written.

You don't believe "what is written". You just add your own invention to it.
Gen 2:2-3 says DAY not 1,000 years.
Gen 2 doesn't say God rested every 7th Day. That is your invention.

As I pointed out
Gen 2:2 "And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done."
There is only one 7th day after all the work he had done.

Gen 2:3 "So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all his work which he had done in creation."
There is only one 7th day after his work which he had done in creation.

"what is written" doesn't say a repeating cycle of actions by God.

Hey All,
WalterandDebbie, it looks like you are adding to what is written to achieve what you believe .

"I disagree, is it evil to do good on the Sabbath?" Quote from WalterandDebbie

Where does Scripture mention evil in Genesis 2:2-3? Here is another one.

"We understand what you are saying but for some reason, you will not understand what is written." Quote from WalterandDebbie

I use Scripture when I make a point. So you know I am not just making something up. You seem to have some kind of inner knowledge. But you do not explain from what source you are receiving it. Nor do you explain what we do not see. You have recognized that we do not understand what you are saying. So please explain it to us.

You will not receive our understanding in the scriptures.

Hey All,
Did the author of Genesis ever intend the 7-day creation story to be taken literally?

Answers: (16) reasons for a literal interpretation of the creation account in Genesis.

This was answered a few days ago here. Here is what someone answered and is very good.
15 Biblical Proofs That Prove a Creation Day Was a 24-Hour (Solar) Day
(I apologize for not being able to give proper credit. Somebody researched this question and did excellent work. They deserve to be credited. If you know please add his/her name to the thread. I left the mistakes in so as not to disturb the article. I did add numers to each reason for purposes of discussion.)

1. Proverbs 30:5 - “Every word of God is pure …” God says what He means and means what He says. The Bible is meant to be interpreted plainly, or not interpreted at all, to be easily understood.

2. Genesis 1:5 - God Himself named and defined “Day” as the light period, and “Night” the dark period comprising one solar 24-hour day. If a day was an age, e.g. 1000 years, this would mean there would be 500 years of light and 500 years of darkness.

3. Genesis 1:5 - “Yom,” this Hebrew word for “day.” It is first used and defined in verse 5. It is used 410 times in the Bible in association with a number, e.g. 1st day, and in each instance it always refers to a 24-hour solar day.

4. Genesis1: 5,8,13,19,23,31 - After each day of creation, God specifically declares His act was completed in one day. He counts each day off day because He wanted to make it clear.

5. Genesis 1:11; Plants were created on Day #3; the sun was created on Day #4. This presents no problem if a day is 24 hours, BUT it’s a big problem if a day was 1000 years. All plants, which need sunlight to survive, would have died.

6. Genesis 1:16 - “…the greater light (sun) to rule the day, and the lesser light (moon) to rule the night ….” This obviously refers to 12 hour periods, not hundreds of years ruled by sun, or hundreds of years ruled by the moon.

7. Exodus 20:11 - “For in six days the Lord made the heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day …” You’d have to throw out this verse.

8. Exodus 31:17 - “… for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.” If a day were 1000 years, we would we have a thousand year rest (Sabbath). You’d also have to throw out this verse.

9. John 11:9 - “Jesus answered, are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walks in the day, he stumbles not, because he sees the light of this world.”

10. Genesis 2:2; “And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it ….” The Sabbath was declared as Day #7. We don’t have a 1000-year Sabbath.

12. Exodus 20:11b “…wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.” We don’t celebrate a 1000 year Sabbath.

13. Genesis 2:2; Adam was created on Day #6, and lived 930 years. He obviously lived beyond Day #7 when God rested because He and Eve had fellowship with God, and Adam had numerous sons and daughters. If a creation day was 1000 or a million years, Adam would have never seen Day #7.

14. Romans 5:12, 13 and 1 Cor 15:21 - “Wherefore as by one man sin entered the world, and death by sin ….” If God used billions of years to create the earth, then extreme death (as evidenced in the fossil record) occurred before Adam sinned. These verses clearly state that death began only after Adam sinned.

15. Genesis 1:1-31 - The creation week initiated our current (and historical) 7-day week. Ask an atheist or evolutionist where we get our current 7-day week – God gave it to us.

16. Luke 3:23 – The genealogies from Jesus backwards to Adam indicate the earth and mankind are approximately 6,000 years old.

If somebody question the first chapter of the Bible it is impossible to believe the rest of it. And if is impossible to believe de rest of the Bible then is impossible to be saved and please God. Please think about this.

To believe God mean to accept Him as He is and what He said in His Word..And that is REAL LIFE

Taz back again. That was well thought out, and awesome research. I so wish I could credit it. But whoever did this, has offered overwhelming proof for the days of creation to be literal days. Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz
