Since there's a lot of riddles going around...

During the cold war, a prestigious communist university made the discovery that any virus could be neutralized by the introduction of a stronger virus. They'd just cancel each other out.

The Tsar was worried that their rivals would introduce a viral plague on them. So he ordered two scientists (A and B) to develop the strongest virus ever, ostensibly as a safeguard against any pandemic but really to use as a weapon.

To ensure that each researcher worked their very hardest and that the Tsar got the very best result, he told them that in one month, they'd each be injected first with the rival's virus and then their own. Whoever had made the weaker virus would then die, as it would be insufficient to neutralize the stronger one.

Although the Tsar didn't know it, scientist A was much smarter than scientist B, although this fact was well known to both men. If left to fair play, scientist A would definitely win. Therefore, scientist B came up with a plan that would allow him to live and win.

Scientist A, being smarter and also knowing that B had a dishonest streak, developed a counter plan. The results of this were that A lived, B died, and the cruel Tsar didn't get his super weapon.

QUESTIONS
1. What was scientist B's plan?
2. What counter plan did scientist A put in to place to achieve the three stated results?

OK.... How about this:

Scientist B was going to interject a poison into his virus that he had built up an immunity too... thus surviving when he was injected with it but being sure to kill Scientist A.

Scientist A, knowing that this was what Scientist B was up to, simply poisoned Scientist B with a deadly virus and B dies before the Tsar's plan can come to fruition...

Nope, only way to not die from a virus in this scenario is to get a stronger virus as antidote:P

Scientist b switched viruses. And, because Scientist A was smart... he knew B switched the viruses.. waited for him to do it... then switched them back w/o B knowing he did so. Thus, B still got the lethal virus. But, because A didn't want the evil Tzar to have have a weapon, he made the virus have a life of only 24 hours.

Scientist B injected himself with his own weak virus and brought a placebo to the switch knowing As virus would save him and his own would kill him. Scientist A simply brought a placebo and the weak virus killed B and there were only two placebos.
