sledding with my wife and son

That's cool. Actually, I went back and found out that it was at Eden's Rock :)

Our family went there last year for our vacation and I thought that I recognized the drop off. Me, I was fearful to go beyond the reef... besides, sharks like to sit and hide right at the edge of the reef where you were diving into... it was just eerie for me, and man, that was really deep! :D

Hey, did they bait those big 5 foot fish right in front of where you jumped into the ocean? That scared so many people, including my then 9 year old son. It took a long time for him to not be afraid, but as soon as he figured out (by my example) that they were afraid of us, he didn't have any problem showing off by chasing them away when all the girls would screem :lol

Out of our whole cruise, I enjoyed snorkeling at Edens Rock the most! Man, that was just fantastic!

I work on cruise ships doing a juggling act, so I get to Cayman pretty frequently. The tarpon (the big fish) are incredible. I've done a bunch of freediving there but have never seen any sharks. I've scared a bunch of scuba divers when I suddenly appeared at 40 feet without tanks (the deepest I've been to is 65 feet.) The tarpon tend to hang out in the caves, it's interesting when you go to swim through, they get spooked and leave very quickly.

Here is the video we are referencing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GZUEk3N1jQ

You've got a cool job! Our family took our first Carnival Cruise last year.

Wow, 40 and 65 feet! My ears begin to really hurt at 15 feet, how do you do it! That's amazing!

I wasn't sure about the sharks, but I was spooked looking past the drop off at Edens Rock and had you magically appeared from the depths, well, I would have screamed like a baby as the water suddenly took on a yellowish hugh :lol

I wanted to dive down there so bad and just explore, but like I said, I didn't think anyone could dive down that far without tanks and again, I was afraid of the unknown. (I'm not a diver can you tell :lol )

I would love to take another vacation to the Cayman islands and just hang out for a week snorkeling every day. It's a memory that will last my son and I a lifetime. He still talks about the tarpoon!

This is my son,

Sounds like fun!!!! I am ready for a vacation! I've always wanted to take an Alaskan cruise because I love mountainous places. You get both the ocean and the mountains that way. :heart
