Sleeping in Church

I fell asleep this morning, in the choir loft, and my pastor is not boring, I was just plain tired, I just could not stay awake, and this is not the first time. I have heard people say it's the devil, but I don't think so. If you did not get enough sleep like I did not get enough today, you will fall asleep, plain and simple.

It's okay, Lewis. You got up and went to church, even being tired, and that's more than I can say for the many times I sleep in on Sunday mornings.

I've often yawned on a Sunday back at this other Church I went to...but I think tiredness generally caught up with me, the yawning wasn't deliberate! But to clip your nails, play with your phone etc...if you really don't wanna be in Church, just don't go. Doing something like that I think is a little bit disrespectful. :shame

Just being in Church is better than not being there at all. Sure, if someone is being disrespectful and a disturbance, then they should be asked nicely to stop what they are doing. But I don't think anyone should be asked to leave unless they refuse to stop being purposefully disrespectful.

In essence, I think it says something that people are even willing to make the effort to get up and go to Church even when they are really tired. If they are tired (for whatever reason, that's between them and God) and fall asleep, let them sleep or very kindly and gently nudge them if they are snoring or something.

I see people sleeping in church, but I don't know what's going on in their lives. Maybe it's a place of rest for them, lol.

What bothers me more is dadgum cell phones going off all over the church. Leave it in the car if you can't turn it down!! :mad :screwloose
Once, mine went off during communion...talk about embarassing..and i'm the pastor's grandaughter >.< haha never again

Well, Oct 18, which was a Sunday, I missed morning church service and ran the Detroit Half Marathon (13.1 miles) with a new personal record (Under two hours). That evening when I went to church, it was everything I had left in me not to fall asleep. :lol

If I have really had a hard week, I tend to nod in church. Hopefully the pastor thinks I'm agreeing with what he is saying. :yes

I totally agree with you. Some people just don't have self-control when it comes to turning their mobile phones off inside the church. At least show some respect. It's not like they are going to stay in there for the entire day. :mad
