Bible Study Small groups

Are you a member of a small group? I think they are very beneficial but unfortunately, I have not been able to find one, especially since I work shifts.

I've been in a couple of small groups (where you alternate at each other's houses) and depending on the study or topic (which is more important) it can be very beneficial.
Find a subject that interests you and others and see if you can get even just 4 people to join. There are workbooks that can be used for you to base your study on and some even have DVD's (with workbooks) that can go into greater depth about things in a faster pace.
Afterwards you can talk to your group about what you got out of it or what you are confused about.
It is also a great way to fellowship. After our study we always fellowship with finger foods & sweets! If there's time after that, we play games such as pool or bean bags.
Before our study, we begin with prayer requests & praises. Then we read from the bible pertaining to our particular study.
It is a great way to get to know other Christians.
The most important thing is to find a good solid study, and from somebody reputable. Sometimes that's half the battle! You don't want to be getting your information from a false teacher. You'll have to do the research before doing the study to get a sound beneficial study.
Ask around to see if anyone has done an in-home study to see what they'd recommend. Maybe even your pastor has some ideas.
Try to get a group together that would be sensitive to your work schedule. You may find that a Thursday evening is the only time it'll work. Or maybe a Sunday right after church.
We try to accomodate all of our group (there's 8 of us) so we plan in advance. A few of them have rough schedules that are never the same but we seem to manage. We try to meet every 3 weeks.
We already have our next study in mind that we will all do.

Yeah, I would say thumbs up on the small group studies! Best wishes in finding one. :D

Thanks. We were involved in a group with other Christian who did not go to our church. My friend hosted it at his house. Unfortunately he died so the group kind of fell apart and I am not sure how to contact the other members. We are currently between churches right now and I have had to work the last 4 months on Sundays so looking for a church has been put on hold as well. We are in some serious need of fellowship. In October, I get Sundays off so hopefully we will find a new church home.

Well, I'll be praying for you for you to find a group and a church.
The Lord says he will give us the desires of our hearts and you seem to really want to do this so He can find a way where there seems there is no way. :D

Sorry about your friend that died (although I'm sure he's so happy now to be with Jesus!)

God Bless

There is also another option. You can have an emailing partner that you study the bible with and just do things that way. Depending on how often the both check their email it can work very well. But you are limited to two people if you want it to work effectively.

That is a good idea, thank you. I may consider something like that.

I would love to be involved in a small group so how do we do it?

Hell-o
I know it has been since I Sept. since I tried to have a small group, but I would like to give it a try again.
First of we would need a few ground rules, so if thereis anyone on the Board would like to guide us that would be great.
My main concern is please if there is something anyone does not agree with. Try and reply in a friendly matter.
Let's try and keep the topics fresh and Biblical.
Perhaps we could have a new topic say every other day and keep subjects Biblical.

Since Thanksgiving is not to long ago. Why not start with the five most important things we are thankful to God for.
1. His son Jesus and Salvation.
2. A mansion waiting for me in Heaven.
3. Our Freedom to worship and Praise God.
4. My Church family who pray for me and lift me up when I need it.
5.My Jehovah Jihra ( Excuse my spelling)
