It was back in 1967 and 1968 when my friend Michael and I were in Jr. High in Yorktown Heights, N.Y. The buses le the students off in front of the school and we waited at the top of the stairs, awaiting first period's bell.
To the right of the stairs was a math class. Out of curiosity, we always looked inside the classroom, which always had the door open. We saw the teacher inside writing math problems on the blackboard. Every once in a while, he would stop, turn around, and smile at us. Then he would continue to write math problems and then, turn around and smile at us again. It wasn't a really large smile, sort of a "Mona Lisa" type smile
We got into the habit of doing this every morning. We never learned the teacher's name, nor did we ever have him for math. We just have him a name; "Joe" and called him "smiling Joe"
I wish all teachers were like him. Some are, some aren't. Some always seem happy, others are grumpy and bring their home problems to school with them.
There is a season for all things according to King Solomon. There is a season to be sad, yet there is a better season, and that is the season to be happy and full of joy. It shows when we smile. There are many reasons to be happy, joyous, and full of smiles.
We have the chance to get right before our LORD and God. He gave His own life, taking upon himself our sins, and giving us His righteousness. We are saved, through a personal relationship with Yeshua/Jesus. This is a free gift and ours forever. We become members of His family, becoming "'B'nei Elohim" (sons of God). We have a home in heaven, an inheritance which is incorruptible. We have rewards awaiting us in Heaven. We are loved by the Creator of the Universe. Perhaps the list could go on.
I hope that these reasons are enough to smile, in spite of the problems in this world, we can look forward to the World to Come. So, Smile, be happy, be full of joy, JESUS LOVES YOU!
