From the video description:
This story unfolds through the eyes of a criminal who receives the same brutal crucifixion sentence as Christ. "My Last Day" is a short film of regret, repentance and redemption. Animé created by The JESUS Film Project, with Barry Cook and Studio 4C (株式会社スタジオよんどしい Kabushiki-Gaisha Sutajio Yondo Shii). They created Animatrix, Tekkon Kinkreet and Gotham Knight.

The animation and writing in this are much better than most animated attempts I've seen at portraying Jesus' story.

I've seen it before. And I agree it's very well done. The animation is great and full of gruesome detail (the crucifiction is really hard to watch). The storytelling is interesting, too, taking the point of view of the guy crucified with Jesus. Only two things I didn't like was the voice acting of Jesus (though he didn't speak much) and the cheesy depiction of heaven in the end.
Anyway, it's really an awesome movie. It's better than MOST of the animated or real movie attempts at portraying Jesus.

Wow that's very well done indeed! One thing I am wondering though, why is Jesus in heaven? I thought he went to hell for 3 days straight because his Father had left him?

The animation is great and full of gruesome detail (the crucifiction is really hard to watch)

Have you seen the movie "The Passion Of The Christ" ? It's a very (very very very) detailed (as in gruesome) movie about Jesus' life on earth.

Yes of course I've seen it. Yes it is heart-wrenchingly gruesome for christians to watch, and it has some great acting in it. But all in all The Passion of the Christ is not a good movie in my opinion.

I was blown away. That they were able to put all that about "regret, repentance and redemption" in such a short anime was impressive.

Yeah, it's not a movie I'd be like "hey it's friday night and I'm ordering some pizza, let's watch that movie"

Yeah well that's true. But my issues with "The Passion of the Christ" is not that it's uneasy to watch. It is uneasy to watch, but that's the point of the movie, right?
The issue I have is that it is a bad movie. Well, not totally bad, but definitely overrated. Mel Gibson did a poor job. The movie is so loaded with slow motion and shots from weird angles it's really annoying and getting old quick. And almost none of the actors in the movie can seem to sound natural. Okay they speak dead languages they never learned. Some of the Latin sounds alright and well done. But the most of the Aramaic speakers speak too slow and in a very unnatural overly accentuated way. You can hear they are reciting a script. It totally ruins the interesting idea of using the original languages.
And then the pacing of the movie.... ugh. I actually felt boredom at times.
And there's absolutely no use for that movie for spreading the gospel, because there is like no gospel in it except for a few forgetable flashbacks showing Jesus preaching to his disciples. But for a person that never read the Bible there's no way they can understand why Jesus is so hated and why he has to sacrifice himself in such a horrible way. So what is the purpose of that movie, other than shocking the audience?

This little anime here is much deeper than "The Passion of the Christ" in explaining what the gospel is about because it includes the other guy's story of failure, regret and redemption. And the violence in it is well dosed. It's enough to be shocking and to show us how serious and costly our salvation is. On the other hand the violence doesn't distract the viewer from the actual message.

Yeah, I like this short anime movie so much more than that movie, I really hope that they'll make more anime movies of the gospel! I think it's beautifully presented.

I must say: the visuals, animation, pacing and overall atmosphere is really good. But the voice acting and lip sync is truly awful.

Lip syncing is, yeah. lol I think it was meant to work for several different languages. Still, most dubs at least try to lip sync.
