I must say my time here has been very interesting. I've never seen so much debate over what the Bible teaches. There are no two of you that preach anything near the same "truth" it seems. One contradiction after another. Of course cj will tell us none of it matters. But aren't the scriptures suppose to contain everything neccessary for our salvation according to Protestants. I am sure many of you will deny that as well. This site is the baskin robbins of the net. Everybody thinks they have it down. It is easy to see why there are thousands and tens of thousands of Protestant denominations out there. Luther said it best "there are as many theologies as there are heads.".

"Trust not in your own understanding but rely on the Lord" is what Proverbs 3:5 tells us. It is clear that that is not what is happening in Protestantism. Everyone is trusting in what they individually hold to be true and standing their ground on it like it is the very word of God itself. You chide Catholic doctrine on infallibility yet you seem to live by a doctrine of personal infallibility. I have even had a few here be so bold as to say they are infallible in their interpretations of scripture. Very sad. But at least they are being honest.

All this has solidified my Catholic faith to no end and so I thank you.
I must however go. And I will not be back. It is much too much of a temptation for me to spend my whole day here. I have more important things to attend to. I thank you all for the interesting discussions and for helping me on my journey. I apologize toanyone whom I have uneccessarily offended or been uncharitable toward. You will all be in my prayers.

Peace and blessings

It was good knowing you Thess. Good luck in your journey with the Savior. See you when we get there, eh?

Keep lookin' up!

Goodbye

Well Thess - we disagreed on a lot but I must say you handled our disagreements in a most Christian-like manner. You always seemed to be in control of your emotions and didn't shoot from the hip too much.

Though you frustrated me you never gave me a reason to be angry with you.

For what it's worth - you earned my respect. I believe we could actually sit down and have a cup of coffee together.

God bless

Hey Thessalonian,

that's a sad thing to hear, I was just starting to read your posts and found
them of real value. I think a few people treated you poorly here because
no matter what you said a "Catholic doctrine" warning lamp seems to go
off in their "Protestant head" that hinders blood flow.

For me you perfectly made the good part of the catholic faith come alive:
A sincerity of heart that translates to a sincerity of faith in a quality
unknown to most Protestants.

Of course there are many bad parts in "your organisation" but that has
nothing to do with you personally, that's the Rome syndrom that now
states that both Genesis and Revelation cannot be taken literally.

Although, what the critics never seem to get into their rebellious heads
is this: Jesus himself deals with the churches in Revelation, and I see
why Rome does not want the flock to know what He says about "the
organisation", but He also addresses the believers as such, with a more
accepting word than Protestanism in general or this century's
off-springs in general. One of the hidden pointers in Revelation.

Therefore Thess, knowing that you are neither dead, nor will be spit out
of his mouth, He has this word for you:

"But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him
will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron;
as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received
of my Father. And I will give him the morning star."

That is not just a word for Thess,... but is also a most wonderful word for all believers.

Consider also these things...

Pure means no leaven. Meaning this, "made the good part of the catholic faith" has no scriptural truth in it.

You even admitted it later in your post.

And about this, "but that has nothing to do with you personally," the bible says that each man is responsible for what he does with what he is given.

In other words, what head he holds to during his life on earth.

And then this, "with a more accepting word than Protestanism in general or this century's off-springs in general."

Protestantism and its off-spring are one and the same with the RC institution, having come out of its belly.

One can see the close resemblance in what you describe above.

I wonder Geo, do you see the whole-hearted support of Rome as evidence of a person overcoming the corruption that is within Rome?

In love,
cj

So Catholics agree on all in The Catholic Faith???I am sorry, the ideas that their is end all be all to unity is a myth. Many Catholics don't agree on the real presence, many Catholics use artificial birth control while other Catholic believe using artificial birth control will send them to hell, many Catholics believe there is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church, others don't believe this.

It appears The Catholic Church is THE Baskin Robbins within itself.

I thank-God for The Reformation. Martin Luther may have been a fallen man, but he did a wonderful thing.
