There are many types and shadows of what will be. The story is repeated over and over throughout His Word. The following is one example of the two witnesses and the destruction of the great city Babylon.

Three “men,†the Lord and two others (interchangeably referred to as two men or two angels), appeared to Abraham “in the plains of Mamre.†After they ate the meal he prepared for them and after they announced to Sarah that she would have a son…even though she and Abraham “were old and stricken with age.†Then they “rose and looked toward Sodom.†The Lord remained with Abraham while the two others went on. Abraham pleaded with the Lord not to destroy the city if there were righteous men there. The Lord agreed…if there were only ten righteous men! :shame

Genesis 19:1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; (2) And he said, “Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways.†And they said, “Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.†(3) And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

The night of Passover! Notice the similarities in this Genesis account of the destruction of Sodom and that of the destruction of the great city in Revelation.

Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto My two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.†(8) And their dead bodies lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. (13) And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Genesis 19:4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: (5) And they called unto Lot and said unto him, “Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

Notice the distinction made in “the men of the city†and “the men of Sodom.†This is a shadow of the “great city†of Revelation being destroyed. The great city is where our “Lord was crucified.†It is the world! Not Jerusalem, not Sodom, not Rome, not New York, not Nineveh but the world…which is what Egypt symbolizes. Is it literally Sodom in this instance? Yes, but it is symbolic of the great city which is why in [Revelation 11:3] it is written….â€Âwhich spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt.â€Â

The wicked men of the city/world “compassed the house,†meaning, at the end of days the wicked will surround God’s chosen…His house, His children and in that house are His two witnesses, the man child, of which the two angels are symbolic of.

Genesis 19:8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes; only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.†(9) And they said, “Stand back.†And they said again, “This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them.†And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

I keep asking for understanding about the "two daughters" and so far....no answer. But, the wicked men stated that one of the two witnesses would "needs be a judge" and that is one of the duties of the man child.

19:10-11 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door. (11) And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

They were not righteous and God blinds them…to me this is saying that many will wish to enter that door, perhaps even believing themselves to be worthy but God knows what is in their hearts. They are those that have or will...take the mark of the beast.

Revelation 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads.

Genesis 19:15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, “Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.†(16) And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, My People, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Genesis 19:27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD (28) And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

Revelation 18:9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, (10) Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour is thy judgment come.’

Luke 17:28-30

28 Likewise as it was also in the day of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed..

The Lord was with the two angels on earth at the time...

2 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. 4 And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus

After 6 days.So after 6 prophetic days (as a day is like a thousand years) all three of them are on earth again. So if people discern the spirit of Elijah and Moises then you know Jesus is also here...

Notice the unpresedented natural disasters upon the world since 2000. It also shows that with great tribulation caomes great redemption. Notice also how very few escaped death.
