Solomon's wisdom

Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. That is 1000 women.
Shame on you men of today , you have no wisdom of Solomon ! .......
:biglol

When you factor in the fact that a biblical wedding last's 7 days can you imagine 700 times 7.

But I'm sure he married some in clusters. Like when we 'marry Jesus' either by one at a time or in clusters like Pentecost.

I think that the wisdom that God gave solomon is far beyond the wisdom of most men LOL. And i think the thing about His wisdom is that if we do not see His writtings through the mind of Christ that we are to have then we will no tunderstand truly what solomon spoke.

I have heard a few times radio bible teachers talk about ecclesiates for example. Now two or three times i heard these bible teachers(which see things very much in the letter it always appears) say that we cannot read the book of ecclesiates and believe it, that they think maybe it should not even be in the bible. That solomon wrote it in a fallen state and it is corrupted and is not wisdom at all. They keep warning beware beware(not in those words). But when i read ecclesiates i am blessed and see it through the mind of Christ and the things that christ spoke to us of truth. I think the problem is what mind you read solom through.

as far as his wives, i believe all the many wives of the patriarchs and FAITHFUL believers in the OT are types of how Christ is married to many individuals who make up ONE bride. But in this i believe solomon has he was partly faithful and then became unfaithful is a type of that AND what happens with the beast kingdom and with the flesh of people when they marry themselves to unfaithful women and are led away by them.We see at one point great righteousness with solomon. which is why he was given wisdom, but then later we see a great falling and we see at some point he is marked with the number of the beast 2Ch 9:13 ¶ Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold; .

That's very true and yet...with all that wisdom what did he do? :gah

Agreed. Without the "mind of Christ" our own thoughts can take us many places. :yes

So you noticed that! :) Look at this one.....When returning from the Babylonian captivity the "children of the province" were numbered. Who were among those returning?

  • Ezra 2:13 The children of Adonikam, six hundred sixty and six.

666 children were numbered with his name! Adonkikam is another name for Adonijah [1 Kings 1:9] and he is a type of antichrist.

  • Revelation 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

I just came across the following verse about wisdom and thought I would add it here. Solomon was inspired to write.....

  • Ecclesiastes 1:16-18 I communed with mine own heart, saying, 'Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem:' yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge. And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit. For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

  • 1 Kings 11:7-8 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon. And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

The "hill" was the mount of Olives also termed the "Mount of Corruption" in [2 Kings 23:13]. The site where Jesus ascended and...where He shall descend. [/b]

Humm, WW...I was not aware of Mt. Olives as the "Mount of Corruption". :shame

There was a time when I 'worshiped' Solomon. However, as I delve more deeply into what is written about the life of Solomon, I see quite a disparity between his early love of the Lord and loving women and the things of this life, like you have mentioned 'Christ' and 'Anti-Christ'. Now the end result of the life of Solomon comes to me as a symbol of the 'harlot woman' in Revelation 17... :shades

:shades I have to laugh each time I see that little smilie. It looks like "Tweetie Bird" in sunglasses. :lol

Yes, when Solomon is mentioned it is usually all the good things...(that brings to mind Ted Kennedy for some reason). :chin What caught my eye about Solomon was.....

  • 1 Kings 3:1 And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

3:3 And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

Have you ever studied "Pharaoh's daughter?" Much is being said there. Too, Solomon is much like many Christians today. We love the Lord, follow many of His laws and yet.....we burn incense in high places. :verysad

1 Kings 11 gives the result of Solomon's departure from the Lord...the kingdom will be DIVIDED!
Even in reading it today...I am in 'awe' at how God brought all this about!

Here are a few highlights from 1 Kings 11

  • 9 And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,

14 And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite:
he was of the king's seed in Edom.

23 And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:
This was followed by the prophet Ahijah meeting Jeroboam, the son of Nebat ...

  • 30 And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:

31 And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:
Solomon did not accept the message of Ahijah...

  • 40 Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon. KJV
Solomon's son Rehoboam, is proclaimed king of Israel followed by a heated division of the tribes...

True to the word of prophet Ahijah, Jeroboam, the son of Nebat became king over 10 tribes called Israel and Rehoboam had the tribe of Judah (and Benjamin).

Ahhh! you beat me to it. Your absolutely right. He was not as wise as some people think.
After that...I don't think it's a good thing to pray for the wisdom of Solomon. :rolling

  • Who is a great adversary of our Jewish brothers, as well as us today? Edom/Russia.

23 And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:

Another adversary of the Jews....Rezon/Syria

This was followed by the prophet Ahijah meeting Jeroboam, the son of Nebat ...

And there we see the split of the "sticks" that continues today...the house of Israel and the house of Judah. Jesus, of Judah (a Jew) was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. The ten tribes are today, I strongly believe, Christians!

I too am in awe. When you see the players and events God put in place from the very beginning to bring about His great plan it is so amazing.

About Pharaoh's daughter...no I have not studied her in particular. However I do believe Solomon made an 'alliance' with the king/pharaoh of Egypt, and Pharaoh's daughter was in the 'deal' as it were. Likewise the other wives Solomon acquired were a business arrangement...so, Solomon established the first WTO of his day and a 'new world order' as well...

Beyond that, I do believe that Proverbs and Ecclesiastes were written by Solomon later in his life, as one who had experienced first hand the pitfalls he admonished others to avoid.

...we burn incense in high places... I am given to think about what we/I say to others, or even write on these forum posts...the mixing of uninspired writings with the writings that are inspired by God ....and thereby 'we burn incense in high places'......

I see Pharaoh's daughter as a type of the great whore. When we marry her, or bring her into our home we too make an alliance with Pharaoh. If you have time please read Pharoah's Daughter, Moses and Solomon! I posted it Saturday but it is a study I did several months ago. It explains why I see her as I do. And yes....Solomon established, in his day....what we see today.

:shades Second hand sight. I'm familiar with that. :gah Experience is a great instructor. Of course if I listened to Wisdom before Experience it would have saved a pool of tears. :crying :yes

As we aren't perfect we are going to do that. Is it all part of the maturing we need to do? I think that is why we are drawn here Ret. God brings us, those that love Him, together in order to learn and the learning, discerning, of what we read and ourselves write, opens eyes and ears to His Truths and then what we thought was truth but is no more than man's knowledge is stripped away.

Our job, I think, is to allow Him to guide us and remain pliable, which for me is the hard part for pliablity means....I have to allow me (the old lady :lol ) to admit I am wrong. But when I do succeed the reward is wonderful. The fine line in that is to be able to allow God to change my mind so I see His truth and that truth comes through His written Word and through the teachings of others He has opened revelations to. At the same time discernment must be used to not be a "reed shaken in the wind."
