It's not true that everything has a cause. If an event Z is caused by Y, and Y is caused by X, and X is caused by W, right back to A, then if everything does have a cause, A would also need a cause, and you'd end up with an infinite regress or whatever it's called. Therefore, either something doesn't have a cause, or (if everything has a cause) nothing exists (because A doesn't exist, to cause B and get the whole sequence started).
As we can see, something does exist. Therefore it can't possibly be true that everything has a cause.
Just thought I'd share a 'philosophical musing' with you. It's not really got much to do with God or anything, although the most obvious candidate for an uncaused event is the existence of God, so I didn't think it would be completely out of place here.
