Something to Ponder....

I believe that most of us believe in Satan - that he is a literal created being - once known as Lucifer - a created angelic being who wanting to be worshipped rather than lead worship - fell from Heaven.

Here is what I would like you to ponder:

Is Satan the OPPOSITE of God?

If so, is he the EQUAL OPPOSITE of God?

The reason I want you to ponder this is: While I believe Satan to be more crafty and "powerful" than we are - I feel that we give him TOO much credit sometimes.

I believe that Satan is the opposite of God in that Satan seeks destruction while God seeks Life. However, I do not believe Satan to be the EQUAL opposite of God.

Okay ----- discuss among yourselves now :-D

Alone, Let me add something to your post: First of all, we mmust remind ourselves that Satan is a defeated foe. The devil can't make a Christian do anything. Some say, the devil made me do it. We need to believe what God said in His Word. By His death, burial, and resurrection, the enemy is truly defeated. The Lord has given us authority over the devil to use the name of Jesus to drive him out of our lives. That's why Jesus said to us, Occupy, till I come ( Luke 19:13). We are to ttake our stand on the Word against a defeated foe. Therefore, we are in the army of the Lord, all right, but it's the occupying army. The occupying army is not in battle. The occupying army is just enforcing the victory that's already been won by our Commander in Chief, the Lord Jesus Christ. That's why believers shouldn't magnify the battle; they should magnify the triumph.

May God bless, Golfjack

Amen to that. Golfjack illustrated that beautifully.

That's why believers shouldn't magnify the battle; they should magnify the triumph.
...and that is why Isaiah said:

Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory;...

:sidebar- why do we call Satan Lucifer? Probably best left for anothe thread, heh? 8-)

Satan is a created being therefore can not be OPPOSITE of God, though he may oppose Him.

The opposite of Satan or Lucifer is eather Michael the Arch Angel.

The opposite of God could only be in concepts as He has revealed Himself as.
The opposite of God is; hate, darkness, a lie, untrighteousness...
