My church just finished their week of fasting and prayer and unfortunately I did not participate (didn't really know what it was or what it involved). After listening to the testimonies of the works that God did in that week of reflection I found myself angered that I didn't participate.

That said, is fasting something that can be done on a personal level whenever one sees fit? :chin

TIA

Absolutely, and it does not necessarily have to involve food. You can fast in regard to using something you use every day. The point of it is to use the time you are fasting to focus more on your relationship with God.

Awesome, that's kind of what I figured. Thanks for the clarification. Now to think of what I can (and more importantly need) to give up! There are too many to list.

Now the follow-up question...how do I refrain from being a grouch if/when I do choose to limit food intake!? :help

That is something you may want to employ an accountability partner for. Also, when we are grouchy, for any reason really, it is rooted in pride. As long as we are aware of that and can focus on the cause of the actual grouchiness we are able to stop it a bit more easily.
