Bible Study Study Bibles

Which Study Bibles do you own, which one would you suggest to your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ?

I have the New American Standard Bible Life Application Study Bible and I find it very helpful in studying.

I use the NLT Life Application Study Bible for most of my reading. But I do use other translations when I'm looking for a deeper meaning in some words.

I have actually a few of them.

I have the NIV Study Bible
Spritfilled NKJV
Life Application NIV (also have the KJV)
Knowing Jesus Study NIV
Couples Devotional NIV
Married Couples NIV
Ryrie KJV

That is probably not all, but I don't have them all in front of me right now.

My favorite is the Thompson's Chain Reference NASB

I also have a KJV Tim LaHaye Prophecy Study Bible (signed by him and Ed Hindson the main editor of the Study Bible.)

Do you believe modern translations can sway theological conclusions? Do the footnotes cast doubt on passages? ex. John 8 or the end of Mark's Gospel?

Why turn away from the King James Bible? :o

WHY would anyone read
POLLUTED VERSIONS OF THE BIBLE
and then think to accept that as your basis of truth?

There is a very valid reason the Old English was used as it was in the King James Bible. The Old English in the King James Bible isn't even acurate to the common use of those days. It as it is in the bible is an internationaly understandable version of OLD ENGLISH, and the importance of understanding the international language of the Old English used in the "KING JAMES BIBLE" is crucial to understanding the Word of God.

Please don't take the King James Version of the Bible for granted! And please don't ever discard it as being a bible that is outdated! To do so would be to destroy the "Holy" word and true comprehension of knowledge give to us by this "HOLY" Word.

The new versions distort the HOLY and lead one away from the path. :-?

PLEASE! Read the 36 page excerpt at this web site! It's a pdf file so you will need the the proper reader.

Excerpt from chapter 5:
Jesus Christ is the Word (John 1:1)
“and his name is called the Word of God†(Rev. 19:13).

The true word of God will be like him. He is “holy†(Acts
4:27); so are the “holy scriptures†(Rom. 1:2, 2 Tim. 3:15).
Jesus was likened to a “King†who gave us a “better
testament.†The King James Bible is a “better testament.â€Â
Its longevity is a portrait of the “unchangeable†and
“endless life†of Jesus Christ. Jesus is also called
“undefiled, separate from sinners†(Heb. 7). His “holy
scriptures†must likewise be “separate from sinners.†Their
“pure words†will not be polluted by worldly use.
They will
remain “separate.â€Â

Excerpt from page 36:
With the KJV, immediately the reader knows that the Godtalk
is serious, perhaps historic, and definitely not from the
National Enquirer. Don’t let anyone tell you God wanted a
News weak bible.
Even the USA TODAY quotes “linguistic experts†who state
that, “We have always implicitly taught our children
different language structures and how they function in
different arenas
...We use a different language structure
watching a baseball game than in our place of worship.
Most children will understand the differenceâ€Â

Please do go to this web site to learn more about the truth about the NEW VERSIONS of the bible
and how they use subtle (sly, crafty) means to pervert , and the truth in, the word of God.

As a matter of fact, I recommend you read everything on that web site.

I am posting this information for those of you who are swayed away from the KING JAMES VERION OF THE BIBLE!. I highly recommend you at least read what is on the website.
The above exerpts are from the book In Awe of they Word. look at the links on the right side of the page to access more excerpts from that book.
It's well worth the time to just study those excerpts.

Hi Jason,

I have doubts about John 8 and the end of Mark after reading study bibles. I never would have known prior to that.

In fact, the more I find out about the Bible, the more doubt is casted on it.

Just being honest. I liked it better when all I knew was Jesus saved me, but now I've been polluted with knowledge that parts of the Bible are wrong or were edited in/out, whatever.

Gen. 3:1

Stick with the King James and you will do fine - those who cast doubt on the King James (the book God has blessed since 1611) are members of the Gen. 3:1, "Yea, hath God said society." Nowhere does the true scriptures tell us to analyze and critique the scriptures. The only being I know of in the Bible that cast doubts on what God said was the devil.

Those doubts didn't originate from the Lord but from those who doubt what God says and want to be the final authority.

God bless

Hey Templar, thanks for the honest answer, it's rare now a days. If you will, I'd like to explain the orthodox Christian position on Scripture...

The Bible was written by men divinely inspired, it is perfect in every way. The very words are selected (God breathed) for the manuscripts, so it's important to know the manuscript from which the Bible you are using are translated from.

God is the author and therefore (that's a KJV word that brings about the conclusion) is truth without any mixture of error within it's pages. It reveals the principles God will judge us by and therefore (there's that word again) is and willl remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian unity and the ONLY RULE of faith for the Believer.

(Creeds are useful but are not divinely inspired.)

I pray God leads you to the Authorized King James Version, its manuscripts were the text of the Church for 1500 years (since it was collected and used), it was also the base for the Reformation Bibles and when the men of God spoke of the Bible they spoke not of the manuscripts now used for modern versions but the Greek text that underline the KJV.

God bless.

The KJV was the first Bible I owned, still have it. I use it and others.

Still this doesn't explain why or when John 8 or the end of Mark were added.

Those portions are not canon and I could not with clear conscience preach from them as being the word of God.

They weren't added Templar, they were taken away by false manuscripts. The Church had them all along, then, a few old manuscripts found 120 years ago (that no one in history thought were any good) didn't have them. Those who deny the divinely inspired nature of Scripture chose to use these older, less trusted and never used mss. Do a little research into the topic, you'll soon find these older scripts deny Jesus as the Christ and are missing key verses. This is a trick from Satan, don't believe his lies.
