Take Authority Over Your Body

1 Thessalonians 5:23 says, And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. You are Spirit/Soul/Body that is the rank of authority spirit and soul has influence over the flesh. That's why you prosper outside in your flesh as you prosper inside in your soul. 3 John 2 says, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Proverbs 17:22 says, AMP Version A happy heart is good medicine and a joyful mind causes healing, But a broken spirit dries up the bones. Notice, the effects your soul and spirit has on your flesh. Healing is more about what goes on in you(heart) than in your flesh. If you get healing in your spirit and soul you will have it in your body. I don't think a lot of people know the influence they have over their flesh. One of the first things you have to realize is that your body is not you, just the fact that you can be separated from it tells you that. When the spirit leaves the body the soul goes with your spirit because they are connected, but your flesh goes in the ground. But, don't think your body is not important because you need it to stay on the earth. When a spirit looses their body they have to leave this planet.

God gave man such influence over his flesh that He meant to be used for good, but it can also be used for evil. For instance, there are people that have psychosamatic conditions- Of or relating to a disorder having physical symptoms but originating from mental or emotional causes. The word psychosomatic comes from two greek words psycho from the greek word psyche meaning mind and somatic from the greek word soma meaning body. It's the relationship between the mind and body and how the mind influences the body, isn't that what 3 John 2 shows us. Medicine really would be far more advanced if they consulted The Bible and God that wrote it (personal opinion). And I've even learned that medical students when studying diseases find their bodies having the same symptoms as the disease they are studying, It's called Medical Student Syndrome you can google it yourself. And if that works that way I see why God says in his word Proverbs 4:20-23 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

If studying a disease can have that kind of effect on a persons body what kind of effect do you think studying The Bible will have on your body, healing (verse 22). Notice, the same thing they do that causes symptoms of sickness God is saying do the same thing that causes healing, when it's God's word you are studying. God gave you such influence over your body look at it in James 3:1-4 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. 2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. 4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Notice, in verse 2 that word perfect means mature and he that is mature can bridle his own body. Then in verse 3 it says, we put a bit in horses' mouths that they may obey us and you turn their whole body so by that horses mouth you control his body. He's showing you the relationship between your tongue(words) and your body. And in verse 4 it talks about a ship, the governor, and the helm. The ship is your body, the governor is you(spirit man remember your body is not you it's how you spirit get around in the earth), and the helm is your tongue. So, you the governor determines what your flesh does by your words.

I have personal experience with this. Before I knew anything about this once when I was a child I ate a banana and it made me sick to my stomach even though I was eating them just fine before. But, that time I don't know what happened, but I determined that I could no longer eat bananas so anytime someone offered me something with bananas in it I was quick to tell them that I can't eat bananas. So, when I was an adult I thought I would try some banana pudding figuring that was a long time ago when I got sick by eating that banana, but no it still had that effect. And then I heard someone preaching on The Power of Positive Confession and he said, You probably ate something one time and got sick and ever since then you've been telling people you can't eat it. If your mouth got you into it then your mouth can get you out of it. He was talking about how people tell people they can't eat something and that's probably the reason you can't eat it. So, I thought ya that's what I did so I changed what I was saying and I started saying I can eat bananas and after some months down on the inside of me when I was at home and walked past the fruit bowl I heard, "Go ahead and take one" I took one and I have been eating them ever since. That's the kind of influence you have over your flesh, in fact you have so much influence over your flesh that the word body in those verses means slave. In the Strongs Concordance that's what body means, and what do slaves do they follow commands. My body followed my commands, when I said, I can't eat bananas it carried it out. Then when I said, I can eat bananas my body carried that out. So, use your influence for good.

It is not God's will that any should perish. And I wouldn't want to end this article without giving someone the opportunity to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It's very easy just pray: Dear God- I know I have sinned and I now turn from them and I invite Jesus to come into my heart (Revelation 3:20). He died for my sins and you have raised him from the dead and I now confess that Jesus is my Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9,10). I thank you for saving me, Amen
