Hey guys, new user here. I'm going by Paladin and I'm in Seattle.
I've got a question related to a spiritual occurrence I've been experiencing on occasion.
I come across various people in my daily life (either friends or even complete strangers out in public) with whom I start conversations. Oftentimes, I ask the other person questions about themselves and they always open up to me and reveal issues or problems they're currently facing, to which I give them advice. Everything's hunky-dory, outstanding right?
Well, after I give my counsel, I depart and go my way. But invariably, either later the same day or the day after, I usually end up experiencing some the things I've given advice about.
For instance, I started up a conversation with one stranger to kill time while I was waiting for the bus. I asked him what he did and he said he worked in facilities for a local hospital.
From here, the conversation naturally progresses and we start talking about a girl I just recently met and I ask him if he's married to which he replied no and, upon further probing, I discover that he's never been married (he's like in his late 40s).
I ask him why and he said the situation's never come up and to that I give him my advice about the importance of us men discovering and fulfilling our purpose in life and once we do so, God will send us the perfect mates into our lives to help us.
Now I've got his attention and I continue on about how it all works and tell him that there are a lot of guys out there just swaying back and forth in life, lost and in need of direction, and that it's important for them to discover the purpose that God created them to fulfill.
Well, we eventually part but the next day I have the roughest day where my foundation shakes and I start to wonder what I'm here on this earth to do and whether I'm heading in the right direction in life (this is all usually caused by some interactions with people that somehow go bad).
And I've had this happen to me quite frequently whenever I give advice to people about issues they're facing. I'm interpreting it as either someone's trying to tell me that I shouldn't be giving others advice (or perhaps I should apply my own advice to myself) or that I'm kinda like Jesus in that I take on other people's sins.
What do you guys make of this? Has anyone of you experienced anything like this?
