TD Jakes heretical teachings

Sitting here channel flipping I come across TBN...He is a play by play account of the first 15 minutes....

TD jakes is spewing out his lies and doing it with a straight face....
Bad enough that he is a modalist, but he just turned John 3:16 into a verse that teaches some folks have the gift of giving money :o :o

He just denied being a prosperity preacher, another lie...
Now he is saying that people are broke because they listened to the world and stopped giving there money to the church...

Now he took James out of context and turned the temptation verses to mean that folks have fallen into the temptation of not giving money...

He Just Called Jesus a Lover...

He is now saying that marriages don't work because they lust over money instead of giving it to the church so God can bless the marriage....

There are lovers and lusters.....

He is now saying the judgement seat of Christ is all about motives...If you don't give, you will be judged....because God who searches the heart

Will bless or curse you... :o Keep in mind he speaking to believers...

gODS plan is for man to blessed but inorder to be blessed we must give money....

You give, and you will get blessed...

This play by play is making my stomach sick....I can't listen to this man who is controlled by his lust for money ....

I'm watching the same program Jg. My television is usally on TBN. I've seen him use this Scripture and other verses for for giving money.. TD Jakes I thought was a good preacher, but the more I watched him over the years, the more I found out I dislike his teachings.

Did you see Benny Hinn? I guess he owes TBN alot of money and is asking for help from the TBN viewers to help him stay on the air. By God's will, maybe he will be removed off air.

It amazes me how some of these''fools'' can take scripture and twist it the way they do....Then again, why I be surprised....

I will tell you..My church is pretty financially secure and they have never preached any sort of prosperity message...Never

I heard Chuck Smith give a message many years ago and have heard the same message from Raul Ries and Greg Laurie....
God does not need your money...If it is truly a ministry from the Lord, God will provide the money...This has proven to be the truth...

The same at my Church, Pastor Skip has never talked about prosperity. We have small booths in the front, for those that do tithe, they don't pass around a collection plate or anything. Around Thanksgiving and Christmas each year, we give hundreds of Ham's and Turkeys along with can goods, bread, potatoes and a pie (Pumkin or Pecan). The Church never ask for money to help sponsor this. I love my Church because they help the community with out asking for nothing but volunteers to help hand out the food and pray for family's if they need prayer.

You know guys, I get sick and tired you blastiing some teachers and preachers on TV. I get enough of this in my own city without you clobbering Word of Faith. And Calvary Chapel is the worst one as far as I am concerned. You seem to think that you guys can judge someone by watching a half hour snap shot. In my opinion, you guys are bearing false wwitness on a brother in Christ. I have been to one of Benny Hinn's Crusades and the anointiing was awesume. Oh, thats right, you don't believe in the anointing. Why don't you check your Bibles out? Don't you know that there a couple of Authors that will preach messages that are unbiblical? My church is right off a major highway, it used to be called Westgate shopping center with little shops throughout and a major Grocery chain at that time called AJ Bayless, this was sometime in the 70's I believe. Well when the church started growing they bought the shopping center a little at a time until they bought the whole thing eventually (now we evn own all the ones across the street which were also littlle shops) well anyway, in the front of the church stands a huge sign where all the names of the stores once were. And on the very top is a big star, well to redo the sign and put the Calvary community sign up along with a message board that displays different messages each week. It was going to cost alot of money to do, so my pastor (who also don't teach prosperity msgs.) just brought it to the church and told about the sign, but didn't tell the cost of it, and asked for everyones prayers about the situation to see what God does. Well within the next two weeks through the tithes and offerings we had the exact amount money that was needed for that project (exact) So God is Awsome like that! there were lots of other things that the Lord provided throught the years also. Now we are currently in the middle of making another campus a few miles away, it will be just an extension of our campus because we're running out of space. This one is a former AMC movie theatre which their turning into a church and it's coming along great! We're so excited about that. Also I was wandering what you all thought about Joel Olsteen and his teaching? Prosperity? yes or no

I am glad you got it off your chest...If it was only one half hour show I would agree with you, but it is not only one half hour show...This is some of their ministries sole purpose....As for benny Hinn, frankly I believe he is the worst of them all....

But this thread is about TD Jakes and anyone who can Take John 3:16 and turn it into a message of prosperity, is evil....I am sure todays message is on the web someplace...I will see if I can find it...

You think your the only one that's been to a Benny Hinn crusade Jack? He's from the Dallas Forth Worth area, and I been to a few of them (I use to live in Dallas) More then you have I'm certain of that fact Jack! What you call "anointing" I call "deceiving." I was watching the same program about TD Jakes. Jack so tell me man, how can a preacher use John 3:16 to promote giving to God? Hmmmm!! Did you watch the program in question Jack??? Then how can you sit here and get something off your chest? You have little to no room to talk on such matters (unless you know what it is we are talking about). How can a preacher ask us to give to God at all, unless it's what his entire sermon is about and uses Scripture for that purpose! What I get tired of is the gullible Christians that think it's okay for preachers to make money off God, and then want to blame Church's for preaching nothing but the Word of God and it's truth.

I like Joel Osteen; He doesn't ask for money like all the rest do. I have quesionted some of his sermons, but most of what I saw are pretty well Bible based. At least he don't come and cry to the TBN viewers asking for money because he's in debt with TBN ...

I've never watched Jakes, I don't watch TBN. I haven't read any of Jakes' books. But, I have read a few articles about him.

Frankly, I got the feel that he wasn't a true preacher of the gospel.

Jack, you are correct in that we shouldn't just judge and slam another's ministry.

However, we are to beward of false prophets, this warning came from our Lord Himself. Matthew 7:15-20

So, while I'm not going to slam his ministry, I do have a couple of questions as to whether Jakes preaches the gospel according the the Light of the Word, or is just another Word of Faith false teacher.

Jack, since you seem to have a lot of respect for the man, and are more knowledgable about his teachings perhaps you can answer a few of these questions:

What does Jakes mean when he states:

“We have one God, but He is Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Spirit in regeneration.â€Â

Is that statement in direct conflict with John 1:3?

“I am the power and the kingdom and the glory, and I think I kind of like it that way.â€Â

Is that not a mockery of God?

The myth of the poor Jesus has to be destroyed because it’s holding people back.

Okay, It is time that I spell things out a bit more clearly.

It seems as if folks believe that the Mafia is selling magazines and drugs. Period.

HEAR THIS. PAY ATTENTION. FOR THE MAFIA IS ANTICHRIST. AGAINST CHRIST. THEY ACTIVELY, WILLFULLY ATTACK ALL THINGS THAT BELONG TO CHRIST.

The devil does not attack dead people. He is going to go after those who are most vocal for the cause of Christ. How he delights in finding Gods own people willing to do his work for him.


Many years ago I spoke to a football stadium full of high school students. FREE. Somebody paid for the lights. I don't know who it was, or how much it cost, but the bill was paid. My time was my time. I got not a dime from it.
These students were raised in secular public schools and booed at the mention of Christ...at first. Before they left the stadium, virtually all of them had come to the cross.
I also told these kids that I would never charge to preach the Gospel, and that if they ever heard that I had, they were not to go, and they were to discourage others from doing so.

In the week that followed, one of my mafia acquaintances made a statement to the effect that he had no idea that I could handle a crowd that way. The following weekend, I was taken against my will to a local baseball stadium filled with people, and told to put on a show like I had done the week before. This person had sold tickets all week.

In the past he had told me that he considered me to be worthless because I had no talent that he could market. (The talent that he 'markets' is singing, dancing, stand up comedy, movies, TV, and porn)

These people will often point a gun at you and tell you what to do. When you reach a point where that no longer intimidates you, then they will point the gun at someone that you care about and tell you what to do. THAT no longer intimidates me. I have often been in the position where I have witnessed to someone and have had to say to someone that I hope that they will give their life to Christ, because I will not willingly be used by these people. I dare say, that if they can get Christian to turn against Christian by giving one of them a Rolls Royce (that no doubt contains a threat) or put a Christian in front of a camera, while doing something off camera to encourage him to tell you to send him money, they are going to do it. I dare say that there is not a minister of the gospel in this country who is not on the mobs mailing list, recieving free publications. They did not ask to be put on the list, and do not know how to get off of it.

NOW PAY ATTENTION!!!
I am not the only person on the face of the planet that they do this to.
Did you get the clue that time?
This is why I have repeatedly requested that my brothers and sisters in Christ pray for those in the media. I know many in this forum are monitoring my activities. Members of the antichristian organization named above. My prayers are for those who are being drawn into the temptation to unwittingly join them. If you want to judge a tree by its fruit, then you need to be in prayer over the tree. Walk by faith NOT BY SIGHT. Let God tell you who they are and if they are His children or not.


If you are not praying for them, asking God to tell you about them, asking God to show you the root of this tree whose fruit that you detest, then you ought not be speaking while leaning on your own understanding.
In the name of Jesus Christ, STOP IT.
Now I encourage you that you not stone your brothers in Christ until you first pray for them and ask the Lord God Almighty if He wants you to bash them for His Glory.

Now, having said that, I would also like to add this to your prayers for discernment.

There are also many members of the mob who are standing in America's pulpits, and in front of "Christian TV' cameras preaching to us. As they do so, they are practicing all sorts of satanic mind control on their audiences. The sort of thing that only those who have been around occult practices would recognize.

Who is who? Lean on your own understanding. Judge them by their looks. Judge them by their sense of humor, the clever and witty stories that they tell, their showmanship.
