i was debating whether or not to post this or even where to post it.. have any of you heard about the new international version teen study bible. get the adults to fall in love with the niv then go for the youngsters?

I won't go into a song and dance i just wanted you to see for yourselves what's happening to our children whether your aware of it or no..

Perhaps the most disturbing "alternative definition" in the Teen Study Bible is given for "witnessing". Witnessing is one of the most important (and neglected) duties a Christian can do. Not only a duty, but an honor to tell someone about the wonderful Lord Jesus. What greater joy is there than seeing a lost soul come to the Lord Jesus! The Bible says "there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth" (Luke 15:10) Wow! It doesn’t get any better than that! That is the ultimate. No wonder the "soul winners crown" is also called the "crown of rejoicing". What greater rejoicing is there than a soul being "born again" into the Kingdom of God?

1 Thessalonians 2;19
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

The Teen Study Bible’s "alternative definition" for witnessing is a shame and mockery of the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Their "alternative definition" for "witnessing" –"a way to get friends to laugh at you by telling them about God". Oh my soul. . . "A way to get friends to laugh at you. . ." Does the Teen Study Bible and Zondervan seriously believe witnessing for the Lord Jesus is a "joke" or a "comedy act"? God help us. . .

let's all retaliate the best way ever ----- LEARN HEBREW ! :) while seeking God's Way in Yeshua personally, totally , of course! (in all things, literally everything, all day, every day).

somebody at Zondervan finally woke up (or maybe somebody actually read a King James Bible. . . it could happen. . .

That article seems to be written by KJV-only advocates. That raises some pretty serious red flags for me. As far as I could see, all of the quotes (if indeed they are actual quotes) are completely void of any context. I think I'll reserve judgment until I see the quotes in context. I like Jeff's suggestion though. I've tried learning Hebrew, but I'm not good a learning languages and Hebrew isn't the easiest language to learn.

I've had a KJV ever since I was a kid, even though I never read it wayyyyyyy back then. I think every time a new version comes out, even though man is trying to simplify the English, there are mistakes made during the translation. Even the KJV has a few mistakes in the wording from the original to that of the English as English words can take on various meanings for just one word, but you have to read in full context for full meaning of the wording. This is why we need the Holy Spirit to translate to us what is truth and what is error. I use the KJV as it is the oldest English that I know of and I can understand it just fine.

Yep, written by a KJV only advocate.

Not only that the alternative definition are not intended to be from God's word but are examples of the way teens may be thinking. They are actually pointing out the inaccuracy of those thoughts.
I know that all four of my teens would have caught on immediately.
money = What you never have enough of when you go to the mall.
sex = another fun thing that mean adults tell teens to keep away from.

If they hadn't included the word 'mean' it would change the idea being presented. 'Mean' is the keyword here. Kids start right out with accusing parents of being 'mean' if they don't let them do something they want to do and teens know this is an excuse that they have used incorrectly all their childhood. It is immature and they know it.

I am not saying that this is a good Bible for teens, only that the article has not proved this to me.

John 10
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

Isaiah 65
1 “I was sought by those who did not ask for Me;
I was found by those who did not seek Me.

I said, ‘Here I am, here I am,’
To a nation that was not called by My name.

2 Timothy 2
19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

I used to be a real stickler when it came to bible versions, but then I grew up.
