Here's an article I found in regards to leadership, and the character and integrity of a person.

Don't Leave Public Service to Amateurs
by Michael Josephson

Watching the horrible events caused by Katrina unfold made me realize how much we rely on, take for granted and underappreciate the legions of public servants who provide essential services that make our lives safer, healthier, and more comfortable.

It was alarming to see how rapidly physical conditions and human behavior deteriorated in New Orleans once the entire government infrastructure was disabled. Concluding that they had to fend for themselves, large segments of the beleaguered masses without electricity, running water, garbage collectors or an effective police force simply reverted to primitive survival-of-the-fittest strategies.

Government employees are easy targets of criticism, but seeing what society would be like without competent public service ought to change our attitude from ridicule to respect.

But it's also evident that these frontline soldiers need strong, intelligent and informed leadership.

It was exasperating to watch disorder turn into chaos because no one was in charge. In times of calamity, uplifting, inspirational messages are helpful, but the kind of leader needed must also be capable of coordinating, planning and managing a clear and coherent strategy.

Amiability, ambition, ideological compatibility and political connections are simply not enough for elected officials or for the people they appoint to head agencies we need to count on. In fact, in this precarious world, it's irresponsibly dangerous to accept mediocrity.
We have to stop discounting the vital importance of real and meaningful experience, training and a proven track record.

There are plenty of men and women around with uncommon integrity, intelligence, good judgment, communication skills and self-confidence. We need to find them. Public service is much too important to leave to amateurs.

This is Michael Josephson reminding you that character counts.

Beware Wolves in Sheeps Clothing! Even Cops "without good leadership" will follow a bad example and turn into raveneous wolves!

Acts 20:29 -For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Bite your tongue! LOL

Mr. Spock.

:-D <--- see, he's green. LOL

Sputnik: I thought that quote might have been a little profound for some childless guy who was responsible for creating a generation of delinquents! Anyway, though off-topic ...in what episode or movie did Spock say, "Those who cannot hear an angry shout may strain to hear a whisper...?" Just curious.

Original source incorrectly gave credit to Spock, when ut was actually Ambassador Odan from The Next Generation. The episode was, "The Host".

:o All this time I thought the internet was infallible.

Hardly. The internet is just as plageristic and fallible as anything else these days. There are some honest sites out there, but...well, you know how people can be...

As far as what this thread is actually about, I'll have to wait until I get to school to see the video very clearly. I happen to live in an area where high-speed internet is not even an option, so we're still on dial-up. And watching a video on dial-up takes forrrrrevvvvver.

Sputnik: But we're still going with Mr Spock anyway, eh? That's logical. Anyway, back to the original post.

Hey, LOL, give me a break. I forgot to fix it. It's not easy being me sometimes. :-D
