Teen creates iPhone app for texting God
SACRAMENTO, CA (NBC) -- Sports scores, restaurant reviews, games, you name it; they're all available as iPhone applications. There's a new app where you can even send text messages to God. The heavenly app was created by a California teen.
Allen Wright is not your average 17-year-old kicking back, playing games on his iPhone. He's sending messages -- to God.
"I was laying down in bed and I thought, what if you don't have anybody to talk to?" Wright said. "What if you wanted to send a prayer to God or something?"
Allen devised an application on his iPhone where users can send a prayer northward. It ends up in a cloud with other people's prayers.
His app is now available on Apple and medlmobile.com. His app was one of just eight selected from 14,000 entries!
"At first I didn't believe it so I didn't reply back to them," Wright said. "I thought it was a gimmick or something. Then they said they were going to send a search party out."
The "search party" was Dave Swartz of Medl Mobile, who said all is the real deal and his Note to God app is simple and original. Allen adds though, his notes to God haven't generated
any response from high above just yet.
Allen's prayerful inspiration is his one-year-old niece Jordynn Marie, who passed away two years ago. It changed Allen. It may also change the way people pray in this high tech age.
If you'd like to send "A Note to God", the application will cost you 99 cents to download.
