The 7 deadly lists of habitual sins

John Zain

Member

There are 7 NT passages which give …
Examples of deadly habitual sins that will keep Christians out of heaven.

Christians are provided with WARNINGS, and those who are
committing these sins habitually are called
“unrighteous” (1 Cor 6:9)
“do not be deceived” (1 Cor 6:9)
“let no one deceive you with empty words” (Eph 5:6)
“let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints” (Eph 5:3)
“the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience” (Col 3:6)

Christians habitually doing these sins will NOT inherit the kingdom of God:
1 Cor 6:9-10
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,
nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners
will inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:19-21
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness,
lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish
ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like;
of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past,
that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Eph 5:3-6
But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you,
as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are
not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person,
nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God
comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Christians habitually doing these sins will NOT enter the New Jerusalem:
Rev 21:27
But there shall by no means enter it (the New Jerusalem, v.10 ) anything that defiles,
or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Rev 22:14-15
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

Christians habitually doing these sins will incur the wrath of God:
Col 3:5-6
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth:
fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,

Christians habitually doing these sins will go into the lake of fire:
Rev 21:7-8
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers,
idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone,
which is the second death.

My Lord Jesus paid all my sins in full at the cross. Thank you Lord that your actions have authority over this thread. :)

So, this guy commits a murder and is caught. He is brought to trial and found (rightly so) to be guilty. This occurred in Texas (they have capital punishment) and the sentence is death by lethal injection. Amazingly enough, a very kind and generous man steps forward and offers to take the death penalty for the killer. The execution occurs. Now the convicted killer is released. Is he free now to go out an kill more people? After all his sin was paid for in full at the cross, doesn't that mean that no matter what he does now, it is OK?

Hey the guy is given several (?) days in between to repent.

But the real issue is IF he will? And the verses come into mind of Numbers 15...
[30] But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
[31] Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

--Elijah

PS: Most seem to think that Christ God has no boundaries for 'loving Him' & Salvation.

[31] Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

Would you say that God is a respecter of persons, in that one person will be cut off for a sin but someone can get away with it?

You know what - God knows the Heart. He knows who is faking and who is real.

If someone thinks that they can continue in their sin and not have any conviction or ignore their conviction ... its for them to find out the Lord's resolve.

I for one have learned not to play with God - and I say that by experience. I felt a heat so hot and heard a voice so terrible when I was sitting on a pulpit as a minster a long time ago. Let's just say the Lord straightened me out once for all. That was over 20 years ago. Did I go with out sin after that? No. Was I perfect after that? No. But I haven't played with God since. And I am terrified of the very notion even coming in to my head.

So yea, I thank God for the blood of Jesus, but I don't play with it!

[31] Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

Would you say that God is a respecter of persons, in that one person will be cut off for a sin but someone else can get away with it?

Surely!

--Elijah

I may have worded that incorrectly. Does God give permission for one person to sin against the 10 Commandments and not someone else?

But I haven't played with God since.
And I am terrified of the very notion even coming in to my head.
Heb 10:29-31
Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of
two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose,
will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot,
counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing,
and insulted the Spirit of grace?
For we know Him who said,
“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
And again, “The LORD will judge His people.”
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Could this passage possibly apply to a BAC? ... IMO, the blue U/L is describing one.

NO ONE gets away with it...

Num 32:23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.

2Pe 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

OK, now is the time for the scripture that is misused about clean and unclean...

Act 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

God never compromises with His law and never gives "special dispensation" to disobey. Ask David...

2Sa 12:7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
2Sa 12:8 And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.
2Sa 12:9 Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
2Sa 12:10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
2Sa 12:11 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
2Sa 12:12 For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
2Sa 12:13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

Now why did David not have to die?

Psa 51:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Psa 51:2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
Psa 51:3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Psa 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Psa 51:6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Psa 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Psa 51:8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
Psa 51:9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psa 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Psa 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psa 51:13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Psa 51:14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
Psa 51:15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
Psa 51:16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
Psa 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Because He repented and sought God's forgiveness...

Psa 130:3 If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
Psa 130:4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

God never compromises with His law and never gives "special dispensation" to disobey.

I totally and emphatically Agree with you.

So how could someone say they prayed and God gave them a special OK to break one of the Big Ten?

So who did do this? Some of the people God loved the most were well acquainted with God's unwillingness to compromise...

Num 20:7 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Num 20:8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.
Num 20:9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.
Num 20:10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
Num 20:11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
Num 20:12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

This was the same guy...

Exo 33:11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

Deu 34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

So who is it that you think God gave permission to sin?

Oh we are an assuming one aren't we? I never said "I thought" any such thing.

First let me make it very clear to you that I am not speaking this in relation to you. I don't know you or how you live your life. But there are those who are so into condemning other Christians with the scripture that they appear to be blind to their own human failings. They appear to take much pleasure in it, as well. One of the ways these people justify their own actions is to use the very excuse that I commented on "God gave me permission".

Who needs to go to the OT, Jesus said quite clearly who these people were.

Matthew 23:23
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Matthew 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

There is a solution. The blood of our Savior and Lord, repentance (changing our minds and bringing it into agreement with God), and walking in the Spirit of grace and love. :)

Reading the posts I never assumed you were speaking directly to me, but I did read that you thought someone had prayed for a "get out of jail free card". Something that God never issues.

And as far as...

I could not agree more. I do not believe (and have never said that I did) in salvation by works. We are saved by grace through faith and that is not even our own faith that saves us...

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

I just do not believe that grace gives anyone a license to break God's law...

Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Jud 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

God demands that sin ( and that means all sin) must be punished. And thank God that Jesus Christ covers ALL the sins of his people thru his blood. All that Christ died for have already been judged in Christ. And God the father sees ONLY his son as rightous for we have NONE of our own.
Thank GOD for his mercy and HIS grace for we all fall short of his Glory, BUT his son does not and so we, if choosen, have a substitute, who bore all our sins past, present and future. To try and keep from sinning is not the answer.
TRUSTING in CHRIST and believing that he forgives all your sins is the only way and if he choose you, you should fall on your knees and thank him for his finished and compleate work and his wonderfull mercy and grace. He's done it all. What can you possible add? I TRUST HIM and I hope you do also for he is a GREAT and MIGHTY SAVIOUR. We, his people should spend our time thanking him and encouraging others to trust in him alone. Rest in him breathen,
for there are many who do not today, but attempt to earn his favor by keeping the Law,and they will always, always fail.

Sorry, but I am leaning towards ...

Rom 3:25
"... He passed over the sins previously committed ..."

1 John 1:8-10
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

... which fall in line with the great multitude of warnings about not sinning, etc.

What’s so incredible is … how incredibly-designed the word is!

In the NT, all the time we have this incredible mixture of BEWs …
Blessings, Explanations, and Warnings that the blessings are conditional.

IMO, the simple blessings are hooks to catch the little fishes,
then Jesus warns to be sure to count the cost of discipleship,
then later we really find out what the requirements are.

Note: the incredible free gift of grace and faith and salvation and etc. ...
are all just to get the lucky ones started of the tough, hard, narrow road to Heaven.

All of the many multitudes of dozens of warnings are there for a reason!
Jesus and the epistle writers are not just blowin' smoke!

Please excuse the colors and the bad news!
Have a nice day!
