What does being born of God really mean? How do we have eternal life? What is eternal life? What state of being will we be in the eternal life with Christ?
 
Well, I am asking for anyone to give me verses actually. I don't know much about the afterlife in the Bible. I would like to learn, if anyone wants to explain. :)

Some here say we sleep (are dead) until Christ returns, then we go to heaven.
Others say we are in heaven the instant we die (I am among them, based on things Paul and Jesus Himself said).

What will that life be like? I don't know, and from my 30+ years in the Bible, I don't think I'll know till I get there. The bible talks of streets of gold (I take it that is a reference to the beauty as well as the 'riches of God'), and we are told "He shall wipe every tear away.."

But I must tell you, I don't think we can fathom it. Just like I cannot fathom what it was like to walk with God in the garden of Eden or sit with Jesus in the upper room.
There are some things we simply cannot grasp.

Being born of the world and being born of God. When you come out of your mothers womb, you are born of the world, into a sinful/fallen world, which makes everyone sinful by nature. Being born of God means that you've accepted Jesus into your heart, and that your sins have been forgiven. You no longer walk in flesh, rather you now walk in the spirit. Holy Spirit, that is of God from heaven. The same God who created everything. It's the highest blessing you can ever be granted in this fallen world.

You inherit eternal life after you've accepted Jesus into your heart in this lifetime. The only way to enter heaven is to be born of the Holy Spirit in this lifetime to enter Holy land after death. Holy Spirit/Holy Land. Eternal life is what it says. Life being eternal dwelling with the Lord. Nobody knows what it will actually be like until we see it and live it. Unfortunately, we have to wait until we die in this fallen world to be there, because we still have a job to do in this fallen world.

Our state of being we will obtain is new resurrected bodies, but not until after judgment day do we obtain these bodies. After we die in this fallen world, our spirit and souls go to heaven to be with the Lord, but our fallen bodies will rest in the grave until judgment day. I believe after judgment day, he will bring down a new heaven into a new earth. The new earth will be our permanent dwelling place where we will live and be with the Lord forever. We cannot know what our resurrected bodies will feel like until that day. And I can't wait! :pray

However, judgment day for believers is called the Bema seat of Christ and unbelievers is called the Great White Judgment Throne. Lastly, believers will receive crowns and rewards and then go be with the Lord forever and unbelievers will be judged and condemned to hell forever.

the afterlife.........You ask 4 questions. Speculations could run wild. One thing I do know is when those who do arrive there, it is FOREVER. And since no one knows for sure what it will be like, these questions are almost imposible to answer. I would like to see scripture quoted too, but I am unaware of any to quote. One thing though. It will be so VERY much better than this life with pain, and suffering and sin and death. All these things will be gone. Etenal life is just that, eternal(forever) Rev. 22:3 does say "there shall be no more curse!" And Rev. 21:4 says "there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, nither shall there be any more pain.: for the former things are passed away." ALL things will be new.........What a Great God we worship who will creat a new heaven and a new earth. His Name is Jesus Christ the Lord.

1Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

1 Peter 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away . .
 
Hello Dave. Sorry for asking, but could you simplify what you have stated? It was kind of confusing to read. I don't understand what you mean. Thanks! :)
