Hello, I am berean.
I attend Seoul Sungrak Church. (
www.sungrakberea.org)
Before we start our worship, we recite the verse Acts 17:11-12.

I share some of confessions of our church with you.

* We believe in the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
* We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten God who came from the bosom of the Father and was manifested to the world.
* We believe in the sealing and guidance of the Holy Spirit and his works at the proclamation of God’s word and prayers offered in faith.
* We believe that man, who was made in God’s image according to His perfect and eternal plan, became a sinner due to the Devil’s deception but justified by faith in Jesus Christ.

Walter&Debbie,
I've heard of the Bereans, although I am not in a modern Berean Church, I do share the philosophy of the first Bereans.

Suna Ihm, I see 7 posts on your icon on this day. :) Blessings to you and welcome to the forums as you start sharing with all of us here on cf.net. Your brother in Christ, Jesus, --Andrew

I've appreciated the example of the first Bereans, but haven't been aware
of a current organization. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

It was a delight to hear the sermons of your church in Seoul, Suna Ihm.

I'm also Berean. My site is the "Berean Christian Bible Study Resources" http://www.bcbsr.com which I've been running for the last 20 years.

By "Berean" I refer to the attitude reflected among the Bereans in Act 17:11 "Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."

That is, to me Bereans are those who scrutinizes all ideas and interpretations in light of scripture, even the views of popular post-theologians are subject to scrutiny, and also allow themselves to be so scrutinized. As such we pledge no allegiance to any denomination, for inherent in such a pledge is the treatment of the ideas of some post-Biblical theologian as infallible and above scrutiny.

One does not have to belong to any designated group to be a "Berean". Every Christian should search the Scriptures daily. Unfortunately, too many prefer to be spoon-fed with milk.

"Berean" is not a denomination. At least not in the sense in which I use it. Though I suppose there are churches that go by such a label. A person shows himself to be Berean not by their affiliation but by their practice of scrutinizing all ideas in light of God's Word. Even scrutinizing God's Word in light of God's Word. Non-Bereans are often identified by their refusal to call into question the validity of the teachings of their church, denomination or post-Biblical theologian, such as Calvin, Wesley, Augustine and the like who are viewed as the infallible theological forefather of their sect. Or by how they react when a Berean comes along and calls into question the validity of that which they presume by blind faith to be true.
