The Berean

Greetings dear Sister @Suna Ihm, greetings in the blessed name of Jesus. Hopefully the following scripture and teaching will add to understanding what Adam did.

Act 15:14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. We are presently a part of that great commission of God as He seeks a bride for Jesus much like the example we read of in Genesis Chapter Twenty-four. Abraham (type of our Father) sent his eldest servant Eliezer (Holy Spirit in type) Gen 24:2 to seek a wife from his own people unto his son Isaac (type of Jesus). Gen 24:4. Rebekah was to be that bride. Gen 24:15.
Jesus was also not deceived into taking our sin. :)

1 Cor 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam (Jesus) was made a quickening spirit. Like Jesus freely taking place with us to be one with us, Adam did the same with Eve.
Php 2:7 But (Jesus) made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

“Then the woman tempts her husband. She induces him to eat. He is not deceived in any measure, but eats with full understanding of the consequence. As we read, "Adam was not deceived; but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." I Timothy 2:14. She usurped authority over the man and caused his fall; but it was not against his will. He knew she was fallen, but he loved her and would not live without her. He had said previously that she was flesh of his flesh and bone of his bones. He cannot desert her now. How wonderfully significant this is of Christ and His love and attitude toward the wife of His choice. He also, as the first Adam, identified Himself with her in her ruined condition. She was fallen, but He stooped to share her shame and penalty. But here the antitype goes far beyond the type. Christ came down to her estate that He might lift her up to His exalted place as the Son of God. Adam could fall into the mire with her, but he could not lift her out. "Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for it, that He might sanctify it, having cleansed it with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present it to Himself, the assembly glorious, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish." Ephesians 5:25-27. R.V. “
Blessings in Christ Jesus. :wave2

Just my point of view from what I see in the scripture. If others see an error please share that scripture with me. Thanks

I think that maybe we can see what the sin was directly related to for both Adam and Eve by looking at the 'punishment' (I use the term lightly) that was ordained by God to each of them.
The woman's desire would be for her husband. In the garden Eve's desire was not for her husband. She didn't believe what he had told her about not eating from the tree and she didn't discuss it with him. Help mates don't go off on their own, they work together as a team. She just chose to believe satan all on her own and made a mess of things. So her desire was to do put she wanted to do, eat from the tree. She said that satan beguiled her. I believe he deceived her arrogant heart. Scripture does say that she was deceived.
Gen 3:16 Unto the woman He said, .... and toward thy husband is thy desire, and he doth rule over thee.'
This is when Adam receives authority over Eve and not until then. This is the first time we hear anything about the husband being the authority over the wife. Does anyone have a scripture that says otherwise?

Something I realized last night that I had been glossing over (not good for one trying to be a Berean) was that neither of them had their eyes opened until after Adam ate. So Eve at that point did not possess any knowledge that Adam didn't have. She still didn't have knowledge of good vs evil.

Adam's 'punishment' is pretty clear. He chose to do what Eve said instead of what God commanded. We can do the same by listening to man rather than God. Before this it was an easy and comfortable living, Adam could eat without working for it. But now he would have to labor to feed himself and along with his authority over the woman came responsibility for her well being and that of their children.

I don't see where God ever accused Adam of not protecting Eve from herself or the deceiver. God never put the burden on him, we shouldn't either.

I don't see where the above statement is related to The Berean. which is the subject.
Sorry.
I think maybe we are a little confused about what the OP is, at least I am. So we have just been discussing, until you got back. :)
What is it you want to discuss at that website or about the website?

It is not about the website, but it is about the below scripture. and who were the 1st. Bereans?

http://biblehub.com/acts/17-11.htm

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

I just wanted to say I am a Berean, and my church(www.sungrakberea.org) practices Berea Movement.
The senior overseer claims we should return to the bible from the doctrine or theology as Bereans examined the Scriptures every day. (Acts 17:11)

You are so very right and your overseer is very good.
Now you can start teaching us what you have learned.

Hey Suna, what do you think?
Should pastors receive a salary?
What does Scripture teach us about this?

Talking about pastor's salary seems straying from a topic :erm I think. Moreover, I've never thought about this matter.

According to Matthew 10:10 and Luke 10:7, the laborers are worthy of their wages.
Pastors are laborers of God so receiving salary for the necessities of life is natural, I think.

I think since we are talking about Bereans in this thread, then any question that would cause us to study God's word in order to get the right answer is not straying off topic.
The first thing one should do is come to a conclusion as to what the Bible says a pastor is and then see what the Bible says about paying him.
A good Berean will come up with appropriate answers to discuss.

Pastor = sheppard
1Ti 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
1Ti 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

Thank you Deborah.
Can you be more specific as to how an elder is a pastor, or vice versa?
Can you explain the double honor as referring to money compensation?
Do elders get paid in churches?
Can teachers be elders?
Do they get paid?
