The Bible is the word of God, ..........

The Bible is not a book. It's a collection of books. A library. Some books are meant to be taken literally , some not.

Yes the Bible is the word of God recorded by men, transcribed by men, translated by men.

So what!

Is there any other book or collection of writings that is as accurate a historical record, or so well discribes the condition of man or has such an appt solution?

Let's be honest, would any man invent a solution as humiliating as Christianty?
Would any fiction show its hero's as sinners, or give women prominent places?

These alone make the Bible so significant that it needs to be taken seriously.

No I blaime those who repeat something without understanding it.
Well he speaks for the Catholic Church in America. It seems like he is suggesting that the Bible is not perfect nor should we expect it to be, because it was written by human beings. The Holy Spirit inspired part , he didn't mention.

The people who say that are usually those who don't want to believe things in God's word. Perhaps there are things there that they don't want to change in their life. That bishop is a man too. Is he greater than the prophets?
If the bible is not true then we have nothing to follow, except men.

He means everything in the Bible is not literal. And not perfect either. Yet the main spiritual truths are there so that is all that matters. Jesus saves us from ourselves. He is the redeemer. The detail is less important.

I believe all of God's word is important.
Did he say why he believes that?

Wow, that's a great video, really got me thinking. As I'm no theologian. My question is what is the first true Bible ? And yes I understand that it's no good to me if I don't understand the language as I'm sure the first Bible wasn't in English. But their is a lot of Bible's. How can I be sure I'm reading the real Bible translation ?

That’s a really big question.
To start with, The Bible was originally written in Ancient Hebrew (Paleo) before It was written in modern Hebrew. The oldest surviving fragments of the Bible came from the Dead Sea Scrolls. However, The Bible was translated into Greek which is called the Septuagint. It was controversial to the Hebrew version because language always has the nuance from the culture it was translated into attached to it. The NT book Hebrews quotes from the Septuagint while Matthew quotes from the Hebrew Bible.

Much of what we know to be the New Testament was written in Greek or Aramaic which well call Hebrew. The Aramaic was translated into Greek because it was the leading language of the day. From there, it was translated into Latin which became the authorized version for many, many centuries.
Our modern versions can pull of any of these prior translations so in some cases, the English has been translated from Aramaic to Greek to Latin to English while others pull directly from the Greek. As far as the Old Testament, most pull directly from the Hebrew which we call the Mesoretic. Some translations pull from the Greek, but not many.

Anyway, it’s been awhile since I studied this, so hopefully I didn’t mess anything up. But from a 50,000 foot view, I think that gives you a taste.

You have forget to say: (INSPIRED BY GOD).

If it says it is a translation then it is a " real Bible translation ", if you are worried study the history of ' How we got the bible' and learn that the rubbish put about about ' Chinese whispers' is just that garbage and to be treated as such.
