In Acts 20:28, the church is described as the church of God which He purchased with His own Blood. What mountains of spiritual pride and conceit are brought tumbling down by these words. The fact is that every person must come into heaven on the same common grounds because we are all purchased with His own Blood. It puts the beggar on the streets of New Delhi on the level with the multimillionaire on Wall street. It puts the most primitive native in the rain forest of the Amazon on equal footing with the cultured professor teaching higher mathematics at Harvard. It puts the queen in the palace on the same level with her lowest servant. It puts the banker with his millions on the same level with the bum who is bankrupt. It puts the president of the largest automobile manufacturer on the same level as the prostitute on the street. No matter how rich, how educated, how honored, how powerful, or how prestigious you are, if you have not accepted Jesus as your Savior at Calvary, the wrath of God abides upon you.
The Blood of Christ is eternal. It is where we start the Christian life, and that is where we will finish. Without the shedding of the blood of Christ, there is no remission for sins in this world or in the world to come. I have heard people say, Oh, after I die my church will have my soul prayed out of purgatory and into Paradise. Listen to me. There is no purgatory. Purgatory is a fabrication to bilk people out of money. There is an eternal hell, and if you go there, you're not coming back. The prayers of 10,000 preachers and 10,000 priests cannot get you out. The only thing that can keep you out of there is the Blood of Jesus Christ.
