The Book of Life

God is merciful as long as we stay faithful to Him we will be with Him in His kingdom.

Jesus is warning us though that if we are not faithful to Him until end we are not welcome in His paradise.

Rev 3:5 "He who overcomes will like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life,..."

peace :D

That says something interesting about the "once-saved, always saved" doctrine.

My belief is a bit outside the "can you lose your salvation?" question...I don't think you're saved just by praying a prayer or saying some words. Anyone can pray the same prayer or say the same words - only God's elect actually have a change of heart and lifestyle. Once you're saved, you want to do those things God commands, as voluntary bondservants of Christ.

To summarize, I don't believe you can lose your salvation, but I do believe it's possible to think you're saved and "backslide" (never having been saved in the first place). Hence (Mat 7:22-23):

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

Yes you do have to remain faithful. Turn your back on Jesus and He will not know you on that day.
