It is a literal building, the tabernacle of God.
Rev 21: 3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

This building will be the physical sanctuary for the resurrected saints during the millennium.
Rev 21: 24And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it:
Rev 22: 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

The land outside the building will experience the effects of the vials of wrath for the duration of the millennium.
Ezekiel 47:11 But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.

The only fertile area outside the tabernacle will be along the "river of life."
Ezekiel 47: 12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing."

The resurrected saints will not be the only ones living on earth during the millennium.
Zechariah 14: 16And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

There will be individuals (which have take the mark of the beast) which will be on the outside of the tabernacle.
Rev 21:27Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.
Rev 22:15Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

These individuals are the ones that will be ruled with "a rod of iron."
Rev 2:26To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations 27'He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery' just as I have received authority from my Father.

At millenniums end, Satan will be released and will deceive these individuals, and there descendents, into attacking the tabernacle.
Rev 20: 7When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earthâ€â€Gog and Magogâ€â€to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves.

The rest you know about.

I have wondered about the bride.

Can we be the body of christ and the bride at the same time?

And if we are the bride, when did we get married to jesus?

And if the marriage feast is only in heaven does that mean the marriage happens there?

Are we the bride, or the promised bride?

Are all of us the bride, or will we find out when we get to heaven who is the bride?

Hello Heneni,

You stated: I have wondered about the bride. Can we be the body of christ and the bride at the same time?

My response: There appears to be a contradiction between the scriptures and some peoples beliefs. It is believed by some that, in the parable of the ten virgins, that the virgins are brides, waiting for the groom. In reality, the ten virgins are equivalent to bridesmaid, waiting for the wedding party which is made up of the groom, the bride and the grooms friends.

If the church is the bride, then this parable is inaccurate. Let me rephrase this; this parable is accurate, therefore the church can't be the bride.

Hi there! Very interesting indeed, some food for thought. Who do you think the bride is then?

The only scripture i can find in the epistels about a virgin is this one:
2 Cor 11:2
I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.

What interests me about this scripture is that paul does not seem to include himself in this virgin he is preparing. He sees himself as the one who has promised the virgin to Chirst and he is labouring to present her pure before him.

He does not indicate that the virgin and groom is already married also, but he clearly does not include himself in this bride by saying he has promised her to christ. Paul says elsewhere that he cant say what we will be when we go to heaven.

Hello Heneni,

As I stated in my first post in this thread, I believe that the bride (as John states) is the tabernacle of God, a literal building.

I see some parallels in Paul's writings where we are to be like a bride, however, John's description is clearly describing a building which has a function during the millennium.

How do you reconcile the text of paul with the bride being a building though. Dont you think that the bride could be a literal building and also a literal bride?

Hello Heneni,

My response: Before I progress, I would like to say that I entered this conversation in haste and would like to make a correction. My correction is that Paul didn't compare our relation with Christ like that of a bride but rather a virgin.

2 Corinthians 11:2
For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Yes, I will agree that a bride is expected to be a virgin, however, a virgin does not necessarily have to be a bride.

Concerning, the bride; I believe that Christ (the author of the Bible) told us about end time events in parables, meant only for an "elect" group to understand. The tabernacle of God is an integral part of the millennium and is merely designated the roll of the bride in these parables.

Hi Guy. Im trying really hard to understand here forgive me if im being tedious. If i understand you correctly you are saying that the parable of the ten virgins does not indicate that the virgins are the promised bride but rather bridesmaids. Thats food for thought and personally i dont think that parable has much to do with the bride either.

But in the text of paul he says that he is wroking to prepare a virgin. He sees this virgin as someone he has promised to a husband and he says who the husband is. Christ. So in that particular case the virgin cannot be a bridesmaid. But he also speaks in a way that does not indicate that he considers himself part of that virgin bride, but rather is working to prepare her.

I also recongise that the bride is talked about in the bible as a city. This city unites with something else which is why it is called a bride. A bride unites to her husband when they get maried. So anything that unites to another, and becomes one whole could be describes as a bride and a bridegroom.

"Please don't hate me just because I'm beautiful."

No, I'm not trying to do "greater things" here, not doing something that Paul refrained and denied of himself. No, I'm not "the bride". From my view -the "bride" is not present on the earth (yet).

Perhaps I should have said, "Greetings to those in thread!"
...then merely pointed to the Song of Solomon and stated that this book is part of the love song that flows between the "Bride" and "Groom" and that particular song is prophesied of and can even now be heard.

Clearly the spirit of the Bride and the spirit of the Groom say, "Come."

Cordially,

The only fertile area outside the tabernacle will be along the "river of life."
Ezekiel 47: 12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing."

Jer 17:13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.

Jer 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

The Lord is the "river of life."

The city/bride is people, no building. The Lord (river of life/tree of life) is in the midst of the city/bride (Rev 22:2-3).

Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

The Spirit of Christ lives inside people, i.e., the bride. ;) :)

My picture of virgin being the bride comes from the Old Testament, as in...

  • Isaiah 62:4-5

4 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be
termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi-bah, and thy land Beulah:
for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.

5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and
as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee. KJV

Joel 1:8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.KJV

The interesting part in Isaiah 62:4 'thy land shall be married'. Meaning - land and a virgin are both a kind of property that has ownership value attach to them, at least that's what I see here.

Oh...I am not saying Jesus is marrying a literal piece of 'land' but the 'virgin(s)' that He is betrothed to, will be 'HIS POSSESSION' and 'her land', her body in marriage - becomes His body!

When Jesus shared the His blood at Passover, He said that his blood was the new covenant (wedding).

In effect making the Passover the first marriage supper of the Lamb.
And when the saints resurrected with Jesus and went to Jerusalem to be seen of many, it was during the week of Unleavened bread. A 7 day feast (like a biblical wedding last 7 days).

It was a wedding celebration. You become married to Jesus when you eat His body and drink of His blood the cup of the covenant.

When Jesus returns and is revealed, after He fulfills Trumpets and Atonement, at The feast of Ingathering which also last "7 days" then we will know the second marriage supper of the Lamb...

This takes place at the time of the first resurrection of the beginning of the day of the Lord...
And we will rejoice with Jesus at His return...
