Jesus taught NOT as the scribes, but as one having authority.
Jesus said; All authority has been given to Me.
Jesus said; Follow Me.

The reason i'm starting this thread is because it seems that unlike the "early church" most of today's church goers do NOT understand who Jesus is/was and Who Christ is/was.

"Name" Onoma: Greek meaning authority and/or character.

If i may....
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word (Christ), and the Word (Christ) was with God (YHVH), and the Word (Christ) was God.
Joh 1:2 The same (Christ) was in the beginning with God (YHVH).
Joh 1:3 All things were made by Him (Christ); and without Him (Christ) was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In Him (Christ) was life; and the life was the light (Christ) of men.
Joh 1:5 And the light (Christ) shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Joh 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Joh 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light (The LORD CHRIST), that all men through him might believe.
Joh 1:8 He was not that Light (Christ), but was sent to bear witness of that Light (Christ).
Joh 1:9 That was the true Light (Christ), which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Joh 1:10 He (Christ) was in the world, and the world was made by Him (Christ), and the world knew Him (Christ) not.
Joh 1:11 He came unto His own (creation), and His own (creation) received (became host to Him) not.
Joh 1:12 But as many as received (beheld) Him, to them gave he power (right to choose) to become (regeneration) the sons of God, even to them that believe (are doers of the Word) on (into) His name (character and authority):
Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Joh 1:14 And the Word (Christ) was made flesh (Jesus), and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory (shining), the glory (shining)as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

LET, your light (Christ) so SHINE before men, that they see the good works you "walk in" and glorify your (Christ's) Father in heaven.

And repentance of forgiveness of sins shall be preached, and I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more.
Here's the thing. We know the spirit returns to God (YHVH) Who gave it.
That is why Isaiah says; "A smoldering flax" He will NOT extinguish! BECAUSE IT'S HIM!
We however have the responsibility of admitting that we are wretched and sinful creatures, in need of His salvation and allow for the "breath" or "current of air" pneuma Greek Ruash Hebrew, both meaning Spirit to fan the smoldering flax into a flame that is the lamp referred to by Jesus in Matt 7 that must NOT be covered with the basket of "self" or (ego) Greek.
There is only One Son of God, and that is Christ, and He will always please the Father, if we allow Him to... That is why we present our bodies as a living sacrifice, for His good pleasure.
THAT IS SALVATION, and that is the evidence of BELIEF!

This is why Jesus said the following statements:
1. Why do you call Me (Jesus) good, there is but one good, God.
2. I have not come to do My will, but the Father's Who sent Me.
3. I can of Myself do nothing. I only do what My father does.

Now look at the following verse and see if you can understand why Jesus said the following.
1. Greater things than this will you do.
2. Those who DO the will of My Father are truly My disciples, My brother, My sister and My mother.

It is ALL the same Christ, and Jesus denied Himself for the will of the Father, by the power of Christ.

Acts 10:38 How God (YHVH) anointed (Christed) Jesus of Nazareth (the Man) with the Holy Spirit and with power, Who went about "doing good" and healing all those who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him (Emmanuel).

We are called to DO one thing and one thing only!

BELIEVE, and that belief will be evidenced by what we do.
If we "die to self", then we understand that this life is but a vapor and at the end of it, providing we walk daily down the narrow and difficult path, we will find the salvation of our souls.
However, disbelief will be evidenced by our unwillingness to simply be DOERS of the Word, deceiving only ourselves and when we "meet Him" on that day, rest assured He will say; "Depart from Me, you who "practice" lawlessness. "I NEVER knew you."

Let's look now at some of the character traits of Jesus (the anointed) of Nazareth, as that is the litmus by which we should as Paul said; "examine ourselves" to see if we are "truly" in the "faith" (agreement with God).

1. Jesus said; I came to testify to the truth!
He didn't say "everyone has their own opinion and you need to be willing to bend a little"
When He saw that the temple of the LORD was being misused, He did something about it, and it wasn't done in a calm yet persuasive manner.
He was expressing righteous anger for the sake of the Truth, that He came to testify to.
Which is exactly how we should address in in our own lives!

2. Jesus said to the woman at the well, to her face and not behind her back.
You rightly say you have NO husband, in fact you've had 5 husbands and the man you're with right now isn't your husband.
3. Jesus commanded them over and over again saying what the Father gave Him to say and it was always IN line with the Word of God.

Jesus said; "You will indeed drink the cup I drink (this is the cup that He said; "If possible let this cup pass from Me" and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with" This is the anointing of the Holy Spirit that is referred to as "being baptized with the Holy Spirit and with fire". This is the Christ who will always agree with the Father and DO His will.
Jesus had a will obviously, as He said "If possible let this cup pass from Me, nevertheless NOT MY WILL, but Yours be done."

When Jesus said; If anyone wants to come after Me, let him deny himself, take up His cross (daily) and follow Me.
OK, so if anyone wants to come after Him where?
He said;
Joh 7:33 Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.
Jhn 13:36 Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, where are You going?" Jesus answered him, "Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward."

Rev 14:4 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.

IT IS ONLY THE WORD OF GOD THAT CAN AND WILL TRANSFORM US AND IT IS THAT SAME WORD THAT WILL SAVE US AND KEEP US.

STAY IN THE WORD AND YOU ARE IN CHRIST, DEVIATE FROM IT AND YOU ARE NOT IN CHRIST, AS CHRIST IS THE WORD OF GOD AND THE WORD OF GOD IS CHRIST.

Thy Word (Christ) have i kept in my thoughts and feelings, that i might not transgress against Thee (Your law) of AGAPE.

I agree with most of this. But when he was telling James and John (I'm not sure which disciple it was, maybe neither) that you will indeed drink of the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, I think he was talking about the fact that they were going to be martyred. Although John wasn't martyred, I'll have to go back to that scripture.

There was one other thing I disagreed with but now I can't remember what it was LOL. But your closing statement is indeed the truth of the truth.

STAY IN THE WORD AND YOU ARE IN CHRIST, DEVIATE FROM IT AND YOU ARE NOT IN CHRIST, AS CHRIST IS THE WORD OF GOD AND THE WORD OF GOD IS CHRIST.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. :yes

Well, I agree but with the caveat that we all wander a little sometimes. But it's true, if we are not abiding in the Word, we are not abiding in Christ. But that doesn't mean we're lost, all we have to do is repent and get back in the Word.

i didn't present all the biblical evidence for this, so if you would be willing to express whatever difficulties you have agreeing with this, i will be more than happy to provide you with the biblical evidence to substantiate all that has been written here, allowing you to see for yourself.

Agape,

Paul
