So if God created the plant life on the third day, and the light (sun) on the fourth day...how did the plants survive without light?

:thinking:confused

either believe it by faith or take it as some metaphor.

Oh I believe it. it's sort of a light hearted thread. Just something I noticed when reading and made a post about it. It isn't a metaphor that's for sure, lol. :lol

He made the sun (and moon, and stars) on the fourth day; He made Light on the first day.

huh. you are exactly correct there brother! Doh. :neutral

We

need a smiley with smoke coming out of it's ears, lol.

I was sort've joking because it's obvious that the plants lived, but I skimmed right over the 'let there be light' sentence, lol.

so if the sun were to go out, would there still be light?

Not unless Jesus was there.
when did jesus stop giving out light? its not stated. food for thought since light and day are denoted as separated in day one.

I almost forgot this stuff
The light in Genesis 1:3 and 1: 14 are 2 different lights. the light in verse 3 (or) was the light of God coming off of His brightness the second light (ma-or) was when He used the sun.
In Hebrew the word for light is ôr, and for luminary, ma-ôr, a light-bearer

Jesus is the light.
ok I can run a few marathons with the idea of light and the jewish view of it. but that isn't the light we are talking about. if the sun were to fade and we have seen it via a few solar eclipses then if the light is shone today by the lord why then does that happen?

yes and that is my point. god passed it off the sun and said that cleary. for times and seasons.

The sequence of days began in darkness (which is called night). “there was evening and there was morning, followed by the number of the day. The light that appears before the sun, is not sunlight. This light is not to be confused with the establishment of the sun, moon, and stars. The main objection is that there is light prior to the sun as if God cannot produce another source of light without the sun. This is a unique light that provides light for the first three days until the luminaries of day (sun) and night (moon) appear on the fourth day. This light separated darkness, it was from the creator- most believe this to be the first appearance of the Shekinah Glory, light as the visible manifestation of God's presence as he began creating. This is referred in 2 Corinthians 4:6 states: Seeing it is God, that said, Light shall shine out of darkness…”
