The Day that Jesus Died
Deep darkness fell upon the land the day that Jesus died.
His cry was heard by all on hand the day that Jesus died.
The trembling earth did quake and groan
In grief so deep it shattered stone.
Yes! The earth mourned that day.
Earth mourned and cried
The day that Jesus died,
Then all was silent on that hill the day that Jesus died.
The blustery wind was cold and chill the day that Jesus died.
The people turned t'ward home and bed
In silence. Not a word was said.
Everyone went their way
Empty inside.
The day that Jesus died.
But from our sins we were set free the day that Jesus died.
They were destroyed there on that tree the day that Jesus died.
His bitter suff'ring, pain and strife,
For us forgiveness, for us life.
Prayers of thanks we will pray.
Freed! Justified!
The day that Jesus died.
