It’s that time of year again for our annual rehearsal of the Days of Awe!
For those who don’t know….. these Days are:
1- "Resurrection Day” - as in 1 Cor 15:52 “...at the Last Trumpet the dead in Christ shall be raised…” (which is why it's also called “The Feast of Trumpets.”)
2- and then 10 days later, “Judgment Day."
Your calendar calls them Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur.
For those few who DO know….. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who is trying to make this year even better (more meaningful) than last year? The reason I ask is because for the last 6 years, I get SO excited that the Feast of Tabernacles comes right after, that my brain fast-forwards to it, and I start pulling out the tents and camping gear! And I somehow lose sight of the Days of Awe themselves. Please don't misunderstand: I blow my shofar, attend services, fast and say the prayers, but I know there's much more! And I don't want to be stagnant. I want to grow and mature as I walk out my faith. How can I do it better this year?
