I just thought I would add to the Matthew passage... It was a Jewish teaching that when the true Messiah arrived, then he would jump from the pinnacle of the temple and be unharmed by surviving the fall. Many professing messiahs took the landing proving that they were not true messiah material. :o


Satan was putting Christ to the human test there also as satan would know the Judaic traditional teaching concerning the 426-foot jump from the pinnacle.


BTW... Satan never quoted "the Scriptures" correctly.

My thoughts as well.

Another example is the 'partial truth' stated by 'the sersent' in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 3:1 "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?" in verses 4 & 5 the 'serpent' added to the words God told to Adam and Eve.

Proverbs 30:5 "Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. 6 "Do not add to His words or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar." NASU

Rev 22:18,19 Has more information about penalties for 'adding to' or 'taking away from' the scripture.

Satan knows the word quite well. He has always used half-truths to deceive. That's why people listen to him, because it sounds right. In cults for example, they feed you their stuff little by little until you finally eat the big lies (this can be done by one's self as well-which I have seen alot of). A different foundation in the person is laid and then built upon with lies, that's why a deceived person will defend his stance; he's relaying all his thinking from a false platform. This is satan's big deceptive practice that breeds the opposition to Christianity that we see in the world.

Since Satan knows scripture better than any Christian does....he has an almost certain advantage over them.
It is one of the reasons that the Bible warns us about the Apostle Paul's writings:
2 Peter 3:15 "And account [that] the longsuffering of our Lord [is] salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
3:16 As also in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as [they do] also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction".

I will be quick to state that there is absolutely nothing wrong, with what Paul wrote....but how they are being interpreted, by the Christian world of today !

Case in point:

Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
2:15 [And] having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]

Satan wishes people, to understand this, as meaning the 7th day Sabbath (4th commandment, of the 10)....instead of the sabbath days such as in the Law of Moses (Passover, Feasts of Trumpets, etc., etc.).

He knows full well what James 2:10-12 says....'to break just one of the 10 commandments (Exodus 20:3-17), is to break them all'.

Satan knows, that to break any of the commandments, is to commit sin...which will result in eternal death, (Romans 6:23).

Satan knows, that to break any of the commandments, is to commit sin...which will result in eternal death, (Romans 6:23).

The point is....is that God is calling people to come out of spiritual Babylon (false teaching and doctrines) into the true worship of Himself, (Revelation chapter 18).
God is trying to expose Satan's doctrines...such as Sunday worship services....Immortal soul doctrine....etc...etc.

The interpretation follows----

• 38 "And you [Nebuchadnezzar] are this head of gold".

Nebuchadnezzar did not like the thought of an inferior kingdom following him.
He wanted to be 'everything' and so commanded that an image be built of all gold.

The point is..... this entire image is an illustration of spiritual Babylon,
the spiritual church. On a more personal level -- this image is ME
-- the adult ego, which God is 'deflating'.

• Ps 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words;
  As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times.

One step at the time --- ego, pride, arrogance, self-righteousness are
crushed then blown away 'like chaff from the summer threshing floors;
so that not a trace of them can be found'. The ones 'called out of Babylon'
are hidden in the body of the 'stone' -- the stone, which the builders rejected,
the stone cut out without hands -- God's kingdom 'fills the whole earth'.

• 1 Peter 2:4 And coming to Him as to a living stone which has
  been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God,
  5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy
  priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
