The Difference Between a Jewish Rabbi and a Christian Pastor
A Jewish Rabbi teaches by example simply because all of God's commands are written down in stone (hint: 10 Commandments) or by man (hint: the prophets) on paper. God's laws and commandments are outside of man's 'body' which means man himself must make an effort to acquire and learn God's laws and commandments in order to become a 'righteous person'. The Rabbi must bring God's laws and commandments into his mind and heart and then continually evaluate his own compliance to those laws and commandments. Eventually mankind becomes prideful of his accumulation and self-compliance to God's laws and commandments by acting in a very ritualistic manner. This is the Old Covenant where God's laws and commandments must first pass through man's sinful flesh before they can be utilized by man's heart and mind.
On the other hand a Christian Pastor teaches by the spirit simply because he is a believer in Jesus Christ and therefore has the indwelling Holy Spirit. All of God's laws and commandments are written in the pastor's heart and placed in his mind by God himself (Jeremiah 31:31-34). In fact God writes his laws on every believer's heart and places them in his mind whenever they believe in God's Son Jesus Christ. This is the New Covenant.
Because God has done all the work no man can boast that he is a more righteous person than any other person simply because he has 'read' (hint: memorized) more of God's laws and commandments. It is because of the New Covenant that Jesus Christ instituted during the Last Supper that God is able to write his laws and commandments directly on man's heart and into his mind thereby bypassing his sinful flesh.
With the Old Covenant man can boast that he has acquired God's righteousness through rigorous study whereas with the New Covenant no man can boast that he has God's righteousness because of his own effort for every person has God's laws and commandments written on his heart and in his mind directly by God himself through the indwelling Holy Spirit.
Believe in the person of Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God – God become man, and you'll receive forgiveness of sin and God will write his laws on your heart and in your mind so no man can ever boast that he has done it himself.

Mark 14:24 New King James Version (NKJV)
24 And He said to them, “This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.
Jeremiah 31:31-34 New International Version (NIV)
31 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
32 It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
though I was a husband to them,”
declares the Lord.
33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
34 No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”
Mark 14:22-36 New King James Version (NKJV)
Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper
22 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
23 Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24 And He said to them, “This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many. 25 Assuredly, I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
26 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial
27 Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written:
‘I will strike the Shepherd,
And the sheep will be scattered.’
28 “But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.”
29 Peter said to Him, “Even if all are made to stumble, yet I will not be.”
30 Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.”
31 But he spoke more vehemently, “If I have to die with You, I will not deny You!”
And they all said likewise.
The Prayer in the Garden
32 Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed.34 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”
35 He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. 36 And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
