In four weeks, I'll be with a bunch of friends who share the same obsession and mental illness I do, which is OCD (Obsessive Crossfire Disorder)...

Don't ya hate it when sportbikes slow you down? :sad

Oh, yes, I so agree about those pesky sportbikes! There oughta be a law, don't 'ya know!

:hysterical

From two years ago...... Not my speedometer. One of our members is an Indiana State Police officer (let's call him "Sam") and he said, "just keep up and we'll be OK", they were convoying down to the Lodge on I-69 or I-65, not sure which - when the Kentucky State Police nabbed all 11 cars. Only Sam got a ticket - $230 :)

Too Funny !!
Now I truly remember why I got rid of my 91 BMW 318 is......here in Michigan............I used to see those numbers just about every time I went to work when I was still in Ohio. Thank God He is merciful.......

Ohhhh, I can keep up with a lot of the sport bikers, not all, but if they aren't dragging a knee....
It's really more fun to pull over and let them by, then see if I can keep up!

I kinda pushed too hard at one point there.....

Now THIS is impressive - from the overlook to the state line in 11:55 - and that's with traffic slowing them at the end.
Of course, these guys live there and know the road, and they have lowered their cars - but still, this really IS SportBike fast.
No way could I keep up...

Man, I gotta say it - another $965 for tires (and that's just tires, not the alignment, mounting, etc.) for the second time in 16 months.
My little car is fun and was cheap to buy used - but with retirement in the works, I'm thinking this will be my last sports car.

Of course, I'm spending an average of something like $65 a month for all of this - while cigarette smokers are going thru $100 to $300 a month for their obsession... Maybe I'm being too hard on myself, looking for a reason to NOT have fun....

Well, here we are at 113,961 miles. I had them flush/bleed the brakes, completely changing every drop of brake fluid (which was ten years old). I do'nt know what happens to brake fluid (I'm sure it picks up moisture) but the pedal is more responsive now. It seems "firmer" to me.

I actually got 22 months on those tires, but WOW, only 13,100 miles.

Pizza's gotta cool it... :(

brake fluid is hydroscopic it draws moisture into it. I suggest changing it once a year. I do that to my vehicles an have over 190miles on my Nissan brake hyrdraulics. save the wheel cylinders.

Are you using a Go Pro camera?

I should do it more. I flush my coolant every 60,000 and on cars with automatic transmissions, I change that fluid and filter at 50,000 to 60,000. Last fall, I changed my manual trans fluid and differential fluid. I'd never heard of that before, but guys in my club swear by it.

My trans fluid (which is just 5W20 synthetic motor oil) came out pretty clean, but the car shifts better now. Oddly, they didn't use 5W20 when it was built, they used some oil of some sort. A few years ago, they said to change your manual trans fluid to oil if you ever change it. I took that as instruction to get the old stuff outta there.

The Diff fluid came out looking HORRID and black. They did trans and diff for $90 total (with me providing the fluids). Totally worth it, to me. :)

Yea, Jeff. I have a GoPro Hero 2. Kinda old now, they are on "Hero 4" these days.
I STILL cant find an external mic that sounds much better than the awful built in mic. (Well it's the wind noise that is the problem.)

I'd be in my glory with either the bike or the crossfire. :)

I love biking, and had a love affair with my RX-7. Those days are behind me now...sadly.

Yea, I'd like a bike - but with all the texters, the "me first at all costs" types, and the moms with their kids in the back of the car (which is where their attention often is) - the only way I'd ride is in a group.

My car is what I have, and that's fine. It can be somewhat costly to drive (don't even ask what oil changes cost, you would not believe it....) but it is, for what little money they cost, a LOT of car. It is essentially an SLK320 with a different body that you can now buy with less than 50,000 miles on it for well under $12,000. You just can't beat that.

Much of my tire tread is gone due to making Mustangs try to keep up with me in the curves - I don't even TRY where their power can be used against my 230HP. But in the curves, they don't stand a CHANCE against me. :)

I think your Crossfire is a great car. I know what you mean about winning in the curves and losing on the straightaways. As a teen in the 60s I used to spend a lot of time at the formula 1 races at Watkins Glen. We'd camp the infield right at the chicane and watch who took over after getting on the back straight.

Driving the Dragon sounds awesome.

DRAGON UPDATE:

Well, I got here and ran the Dragon before I headed to the Lodge, as usual. The car didnt' feel right, I don't know if I need shocks or it's the new Hankooks (they look pretty much the same as before). Anyway, there was NO traffic and no LEOs, so on the way back I ran it good.

I can't tell you what happened (I always judged guys who say that), but the car kinda let go in what really isn't the tight of a curve, and it's banked really well, too. I crossed the center and went into trees. I"m ok and the car isn't really all that bad, but the wrecker guy and I both agree: insurance will total it. I guess I'm still the "Event Coordinator" just not gonna be a route leader this time.

It's almost as bad as being in the hospital last spring. EDIT: NO, that was worse, I can buy another car.

Well THIS was no fun.
I'm headed to bed - it would be wrong of me to let this go past midnight.

APRIL FOOL!
