The Dragon Cometh !

Boy, am I tired. Below is what I am posting on other sites.... I'm just SO TIRED.

We had just an awesome time. Only one guy got a ticket. We had SO many new people – and they made the weekend worth it.

I did some things totally differently than the other leaders and got positive reactions from everyone. This weekend was something I needed – might just have a good week now.

I slept only 5-6 hours a night – just too much to do – I had no idea how much work running something like this is….. I will sleep VERY WELL tonight.

DRAGON UPDATE:

1) The first timers who attended went to an EPIC Dragon, because the roads had light traffic. REALLY light. We saw maybe two dozen cars in 55 miles on the Skyway.
2) I now have acquired a love for Hellbender. (Had two AWESOME runs Saturday evening - one, I was chasing ANDY - it went off like chasing GARY!)
3) We had perfect weather - rain on three days, all of it AFTER 8pm and BEFORE 6AM, the roads were dry anytime we were on them. High temps of 65 to 80 every day.

Those who came to this one as their first got a chance to meet a lot of people and won't feel "out of place" at all if they return for fall. I think we all talked to, well, everyone in attendance - sometimes, a small crowd is just the ticket.

Both Saturday runs were essentially "Tourist Class" runs. But we DID manage to give all a chance to heat up the tires and brakes several times. Pizza's Sunset Cruise turned into, well, it was every bit as zippy as last fall and included a goat challenging my car. He didn't ram me, but he may have been thinking it - until his owner called his name. Courtney has a picture of it and I will post it when I can.

Welcome home, Pizza :wave2

So glad you had a lovely Dragon experience (goat excepted), and the chance to get away from it all.

A change of scenery, along with a change in routine, can be so uplifting. Happy to learn you had such a great time!

THANKS!

It was another EPIC time. Only 24 people (11 in church Sunday), but still a great time.

SO many laughs, only one ticket, (I didn't get it), no car breakdowns, great weather - it just went off well.
It sure feels good to be in my bed again...

Excellent!

(There's no place like home.........there's no place like home..........)

SO, I walk into the office this morning - and am now in a rented Jeep heading back up there, to a town 60 miles to the east of where I was - this will be a Dealer-Assistance trip.

Ill be on the very highways I came home on, to within 40 miles of the Lodge I stayed at over the weekend.

I think her owner called her "Hannah", but she would not go to him.
Shortly after this picture was snapped, she shot up the near vertical bank to the right in the picture.

Well, for those wondering... (and mostly for those who weren't - how DARE you!) I'm at 116,000 miles. Original shocks. So I bought the KYBs (all four) and had them put on today. Not a SHOCKING difference, the old ones were still doing some of their job. But in speedy curves I can feel the car is more stiff, stable and sure. I do feel bumps in the road more, not a LOT more. Verdict: $225 for the set (if you get them from KYB outlet) and $204 labor (included changing the steering stabilizer) - well worth it, as I ready myself to head to CAA6.

I stumbled onto pictures from my first Crossfire (got it in 2009, yes, I'm on my third of these wonderful convertibles).

I was at Peach State Airport in Williamson, GA for lunch in the fall of 2009, on the way home from church, when I saw this DC 3 sitting at the end of the runway. I just HAD to ask if I could drive out on the (grass) runway and snap a picture. When I got out there, I snapped about 7 photos. (Yes, I got PERMISSION to drive out there, so don't anyone go having a fit....)View attachment 7394

Antipasta flew that airplane for about an hour, many weeks after that picture was taken! :)

He's lived an awesome life, all I have is another pretty red convertible...

Well, I guess it is time - for my first car show! My car says "Chrysler" all over it, but it was built in Germany in the Karmann plant using Mercedes engine/chassis/drive train and German labor. The organizers have asked for the Crossfire to be represented. So far, its me and my friends who will bring both of their cars.

How cool is THIS?
