The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom

In Proverbs 9 we see there are two different “women” that are wanting our attention. They both are “seated” in the highest places of the city, they both have substance, “drink and food” to offer, and they both have a message; whoever is simple, turn in here.

Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars;
She cries out from the highest places of the city,
Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!
As for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,
“Come, eat of my bread
And drink of the wine
I have mixed.

Forsake foolishness and live, and go in the way of understanding.

A foolish woman is clamorous;
She is simple, and knows nothing.
For she sits at the door of her house,
On a seat by the highest places of the city,
Whoever is simple, let him turn in here”;

And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,
Stolen water is sweet,
And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”

But he does not know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of hell.

I believe the fear of the Lord is the difference maker; whether we partake of wisdom and understanding or we eat the bread of foolishness.

The things of this world.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15

JLB, how do you measure whether you love the things of the world?

I don’t measure.

I also don’t compare myself with others.

What or Who I set my mind on, and what or Who I desire tends to let me know where the commitment of my heart is.

Fine, how do YOU measure you?
