I am hoping that Free does not lock this thread. This is a very important subject.
Before Jesus died on the cross, he said, "It is Finished" John 19:30. What did Jesus mean by that? When Jesus prayed to the Father he said, "I have glorified you on the earth: I have finished the work that you gave me to do" John 17:4.
I have always said that we are saved by works, the work of Jesus. In our name and on our behalf, Jesus fulfilled every jot and tittle of the law. In our name and on our behalf, Jesus atoned for our sins and the sins of the whole world, 1 John 2:2. This is why Paul said, "And you are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power" Colossians 2:10.
Isaiah said, "Come now, let us reason together, saith the Lord, though your sins are as scarlet they can be as white as snow" Isaiah 1:18. Now here is my question. If Jesus fulfilled the law for us and atoned for our sins and Paul said we are complete in Jesus, then why do some think that they can make themselves any better than what we already are in Jesus Christ?
If we have ALREADY been reconciled to God by the doing and the dying of Jesus Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19. Then who needs to join the Catholic church or become a Calvinist? I am really serious about this and need some answers. As for myself, I am resting in the finished work of Christ, Hebrews 4:10. I can't figure out why you are not.
