The Generational Curse

Lewis

Member
Who on this board believes in the Generational Curse, that the Old Testament talks about ? Some Christians don't, and some do. I for one do.
Exodus 34:6-7 (NIV) And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."
And you may also visit this site, on this subject.

I do. In a specific way though. I believe he meant that those in future generations who carry on the sins of their fathers will, because they had not learned from their examples, be punished for what he did too.

Not saying that a righteous man must be punished for something a sinful parent or grandparent did.

Generational sin can be a foothold for sex addiction and other forms of spiritual bondage. The Bible tells us that curses from one generation's sin can be passed down to subsequent generations. The results of these curses may appear of ways, including character flaws, illnesses, financial difficulties, addictions, sexual problems, emotional problems and demonic oppression. If you suffer from one or more of these problems, you may want to investigate the possibility that generational sin could be a factor.
This is the kind of stuff, that I am talking about

If generational sin means we will suffer due to the sin nature that was passed on to us because of the Fall in the Garden, then yes.

I believe that familiar spirits can be passed down from one generation to the next, and the same sins become evident for each of the down side generations as before.

I know of various sins on my wifes side of the family and my side of the family that have been handed down from no other means but via the spiritual side of things, as these sins were not taught.

That old saying, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree....

The laws of Agriculture dictate this much: The seed of one generation is reproduced in the next generation, be it altered or not, the reproduction process follows after that which was before.

And the same goes for the spiritual. God's word does teach us that much.
So now do we have to go search the scriptures to prove it? So much homework this forum creates. :-?

I'll try to put it as simply as I can. Pardon my writing. I am not a technical writer and this is only a draft writing. not some long thesis on the subject. :-? so please bear with me and just see if you grasp what I mean to get across here. Of course what we learned in our science classes in school should have meant for good purpose for something.... Yes? Revelations anyone ? :)

The process of all science, agriculture, botany, biology, chemistry... is revealed in the bible. It would just take all too long a time to compile the information and bring it back to this forum and post it the tiny space allotted for one message. :-?

The science of botany is not much different than the science of Biology in the way in which the growth "process" takes place. Each is subject to be affected by the manipulations of chemical input and chemical subtractions.

If you think about the way in which the plant is manipulated by man or is altered by the forces in nature, e.g., man hybrids plants to create a new breed or an altered breed for his own purpose, or, the forces of nature, drought, over-stimulation of environmental factors, these all change chemical composition. If there are no other alterations, so to speak, the composition of the plant remains the same and the offspring follows suite.

I believe that man is no different in this process, in that we feed our bodies vitamins and minerals, etc., and thereby, create change in the physical appearance and overall structure of the body. I also believe that the same stand true for the mental (spiritual) process.
There are laws of order that God set in place. We are not an exception to that rule of order.

Same goes for cooking. if you change the recipe, you'll get a different flavor, be it a good one or not, depends on the compostion within.
Did you know that if two people cook the same recipe that they will not tastes exactly the same. Ever wonder why? 8-)

The bible teaches us the order of creation, and how... "that which is, follows that which was before".

Nothing happens without a change in the present pattern of things.
A bright yellow rose is still a bright yellow rose, but add or subtract a component and you will have rose that is relative to what it was before but altered in some way or another in accordance to the 'added" or "subtracted" component. This "new" pattern will carry on in it's reproduction process until another change takes place. And IF the components which were added or subtracted are in anyway "progressive" in their own nature, then we would see the these so called "normalities, "deformities" or "abnormalities" (whatever they are liken to produce) come to fruition in future "crops".
Again, The seed of one generation is reproduced in the next generation, be it altered or not, the reproduction process follows after that which was before.

Jesus was trying to get the message across in many of His teachings. The Spiritual takes after it's kind. Principalities are alive according to the seed they came out of.

Repentance is crucial. The Word of God is a healing balm. It is not the cruelity that so many people seem to think it is. Just because a branch needs to be pruned doesn't mean God is cruel! God is a loving God. He tends to His sheep and He tends to His garden, He tends to HIS people. IF only they are willing to follow. God gave us "will". It is our responsibility to use it wisely. We are free to use our will as we will, but it is our responsibility to learn and understand the LAWS OF ORDER in God's Creation, the spiritual and the material. Too many people take that for granted. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. :) We can take it or leave it. But to not take this gift, is a dire mistake. Accept Jesus and His teachings. And our lives will be changed for the "better". We take off the old and put on the new. It's Spiritual chemistry. :)

Sorry if my wording was not "technical" enough. I'm not a science writer.
But I do understand the way in which material and spiritual are connected in this world. The bible teaches us that much.
I hope this made clear enough sense to you. I don't know how else to write it without taking the long time to provide already existing techincal data and edit this message. .

Relic and Solo thank you, those were very good answers. A lot of questions have been going through my mind lately. Even though I already know the answers on some of them, it is good to hear you guy's opinion on them, because it is a great help to me, and others who read answers that you all post.

Generational curse seems like a Demiurge style type of activity for a God to placate.

What kind of God does that sort of thing?

It is quite possibly true however!

Just look at Africa!

The kind of God that created all things good and evil. God the Father is that God.

Jesus was born for us to have a means of "redemption" FROM the things of this world.

You can't ignore the fact that there are laws pertaining to opposites.

In life, there is the - and the + so it is with all things, spiritual and material.

God created life that way. There is no way for us to tell God that he can't do it that way.

But his love for those who "repent" "turn-away from" the principalities that are behind the powers of evil. What have we left of the other spectrum of this scale that measures good and evil? The Good Will of God.

You can't eliminate anything that God created. We can only look to the Good Will of God. all things have their place in existence. We are give the way, the truth, and the life by way of Jesus.

One can bicker all they want about the way they don't like evil that God created and they can bicker all they want over the principality that rules this evil. God gave us free will. He said right from the start, to Adam and Eve, to not eat of that tree. But they chose to do it. Free Will. Now that we have knowledge of both the good and the evil. We are instructed still by our loving Father to seek after Him and His kingdom. and to stand firm against the wiles of the devil. He was loving enough to give us a way to resist and overcome the evil. It's about what you give your will over to, It's about what you focus on.... What God or god do you seek after with your whole heart and soul? That's what it's all about. Do you see it yet?

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

Not my Free Will....

A couple simpletons from 6 thousand years agos free Will.....

And the "fair" result?

Soma, that's not a result of any generational curse at all. That is a result of poor distribution of resources, dastardly government corruption and gluttony.

I think you already know that though. :sad

Than what is meant by generational curse?

I would think that plague, famine, etc would qualify?

Remember the plagues in Egypt?

The unborn killed because of parental mishaps?

That seems to me to be a curse.

Taken from link....

To get started with this, you can prepare a family tree noting all known sin issues in your family. Once those sins have been identified, confess them to God and pray for healing and release of any generational curses.

How awesome is that....

Not only do I have to worry about my own problems....

Now I should go looking in the old family tree to see if I could find any pedophiles!!???

Give me a break!

This should make for an interesting Thanksgiving discussion!

This genreational curse business sounds like reincarnation without the reincarnation..... :)

You get messed over for past sins committed in the old DNA tree but instead of being personally responsible.... you get shafted by Uncle Cletus!

All that link really says to me is "I feel guilty for porn".....

That seems to be the biggest agenda in the modern day evengelical world along with abortion and homosexuality.

Your better off having your parents neuter you as a child than have to deal with all this insanity over sexual dealings....

So you are disagreeing that the things I mentioned have nothing to do with starvation but instead it may have someting to do with something that poor starving child's ancestor(s) may have done?

What happened to you? A year ago you would have agreed with me 100%. Step off that bed of quicksand my friend before it swallows you up whole. :-?

Have you forgotten so soon?

Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and the Life.

Jesus IS The Holy Redeemer.

Follow Jesus. Live by His Words of Truth.
Apply those "Truths" into your life.

Study and meditate on them.

What's with this negativity that is invading your thoughts Soma?

You need to cast that negative out and replace it with the positive word of God. Be transformed by the renewing of the mind. Meaning you take the positive scriptures and apply them into your way of thinking.

Speak them and apply them into your life.
From what you've been posting lately, it seems you are allowing the negative to rule instead of the positive promises of God through Christ living IN you. If you don't allow Him to work and live in you then what have you? Fear, doubt and a whole bunch of stinking thinking that creeps in and becomes habit.

Keep a Check on stinking thinking and nip it in the bud.
Prune the vine soma!
Creating bad habits is easy, Breaking bad habits take effort!

John 3:17
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Ephesians 1:7
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Galatians 3:13-14
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

When Christians see oppressions as you have pointed out, the starving, for example. Is it not our obligation to go out into the world and preach the gospel? Isn't it our obligation to help feed the hungry?

Many many missionaries whom are working out of trustworthy charities and churches are at work doing just that. Feed the Children is a great charity. And as far as I know they are very trustworthy with the funds they receive.

We all need to donate our services in this world in one way or another, whether it be in our community to help the process of alleviating such situations or where ever there is need.

Faith without works is dead. We do have a duty to help out in any thing that is placed in front of us. To do whatever we can do without conning other people with falsely representing Christ in our service to Him.
