The Harvest Moon Shines on Oct. 6

The full moon closest to the autumnal equinox is called the Harvest Moon. At this time of year, the moon rises at about the same time each night, just after sunset, giving farmers extra hours of light to bring in the harvest. In two years out of three, the Harvest Moon comes in September, but in some years it occurs in October.

Hey...thanks for the info, thats tomorrow night!!
When a full moon falls on the wk-end we somtimes go deer shine'n. (but we don't kill them, its just for fun)
Because of that, I always keep track of the moon. Usually the night before a completely full moon is best, it seems like the moon gets higher earlier.
It will be interesting to see what a harvest moon is like.

A blue moon is when there is a second full moon in the month. Rare, but it happens.
