The Israel of God, Gal. 6:16: The Israel of God are those who are born again, walking in the Spirit of Christ, being crucified unto the (principles of this) world, and the world unto us. The Israel of God was to be to God a people of His own. A peculiar people, a kingdom of priest and kings, separated from the mass of mankind.(Ex. 19: 5-8) Because of their disobedience the lord marched them through the desert for one generation (40 years) before they entered the promised land to the fathers. In which should have taken only a few days. Through Joshua and then the Judges was one of self will until they got in trouble and called the Lord to help them.
Samuel was the last of the Judges for Israel wanted a king like other nations. First Saul was king and removed by God. The Israel of God begins with King David, a man after God's own heart. King Davids rule was pretty much one of obedience and love of God. God makes a perpetual Covenant with David that there would always be a son of King David on the throne. The Covenant is given in (2 Samuel 7: 5-19). This Covenant is the Israel of God. After King David the Kingdom of Israel was one of idolatry, evil and disobedience. After many warnings, God punishes Israel and Judah by the capture of other nations as He said He would by many warnings. But God's Covenant with David is puerperal and though God will chastise Israel, He will bring the promise to pass.
How the Israel of God is to be established. (Isa. 11:10-12; Jer. 23:5-8; 33:14-21; Ezk. 37:22-28; Hosea 3:4-5; Micah 5:2). It was confirmed to Mary (Luke 1:26-33). The rejection of the Kingdom evident (Matt. 11:16-30; 12:14-21, 41-49) The mystery form of the Kingdom of Heaven reveled (Matthew Chapter 13). The Church announced (Matt. 16:13-21) The Son of David The Messiah rejected, crucified and risen (John 19: 14-15; Acts 2:29-32) The King to return and set up His throne (Acts Chapter 2; 15:14-17; 4:24-28; Rev. 20:1-6) Gentiles included in the body of Christ (Church) (Acts 10:1-48) The out calling of Gentiles agrees with prophecy (Acts 15:1-9) The New Covenant formed (Heb. 8:6-13) Covenant in prophecy (Jer. 31:31-34) New Covenant formed on the sacrifice of Christ (Matt. 26:27-28; 1 Cor. 11:25; Heb. 9:11-12; 8:6-13) Christian are partakers of New Covenant (Eph. 2:11-20) Though it was promised to Israel, Gentiles are now partakers of it (Heb. 10:11-22) Israel to be brought into the New Covenant (Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 8:8-12; Jer. 23:5-6; Ezek. 20:34-37; Rom. 11:25-27)
The Church in itself is not the Israel of God, but is part of the Israel of God. The Israel of God includes the Church and Israel and all spirit filled citizen of the commonwealth of Israel. It is also the restored Kingdom of Israel. The Kingdom of God includes all the above and all the nations will bring their glory into it (Rev. Chapter 21 and 22:1-5)
