The book of the generation of Jesus Israel's Messiah and King to sit on the throne of David.
This will all take place in Israel.
The purpose of this genealogy is to show that Jesus bar Joseph's family line led from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, down to and including Joseph, Jesus' stepfather and rightful heir to the throne in Israel.

Matthew was written by a "Jewish" Christian TO and FOR Israel of twelve tribes.
The Gospel of Matthew is a "Jewish" Gospel.
Matthew writes to the Hebrew people of Israel consisting of the twelve tribes of Jacob.
