The law of attraction teaching

I realize that the law of attraction movement has been sensationalized beyond belief for profit.

Still, it seems that the most convincing cons are the ones that have a grain of truth mixed in with the lies. And a lot of people have been convinced of LoA who still aren't millionaires.

So I guess I'm wondering, is there a grain of truth at all in the law of attraction teaching which says that our life circumstances are the result of our thought patterns?

You can read all the motivational books, or talk to all the motivational speakers in the world and nothing, nothing, will compare to what you can learn from the bible.

To turn that on its head, if you find an inspirational book that does not have at its core biblical principles then it is useless and not worth your time.

There might be a grain of truth to it but there is nothing magical about it. The subconscious is very powerful. If your parents gave you uncondtional love your life will be different than if they abused you. I believe people who see magical synchronicity and things falling into their lap are the victim of the enemy trying to mislead you. They want you to believe you are the God of your life. New age stuff is often about you being the God of your life.

Jesus talked about faith and not doubting. I think your prayer life is more powerful the stronger your faith. I guess this is of a similar theme but very different than the law of attraction.

I agree.

I have thought about it and I think it's a rip-off of the parable of the talents.

The 'gurus' make it seem magical by neglecting to mention that before God can supernaturally multiply your talents, YOU have to multiply those talents first. No passive magic here.

Anyway, thank you John, Knotical and Gordon.
