Christ taught them how to pray. It is a very simple prayer that can be easily memorised by even a little toddler. It is easier than ABC. Or seems to cover or contain in it all the prayers even an avaricious man can make in a day.
 
We are not necessarily suppose to pray The Lord's Prayer,it is what Jesus taught the disciples how to pray.God is more interested in our hearts than the words.There is nothing wrong with memorizing The Lord's Prayer and reciting it.We are not to pray repetitiously when our hearts are not in it.He is our Father in heaven he wants a relationship with us.A meaningful relationship.
