In the English reading world today there are many great translations of both the old and new Testaments.
There are some that are easy to read there are some more with slightly more complex language and slightly more accurate to the original texts. But for the most part modern English Bible are accurate and trustworthy.

Because what you do with God is the single most important decision you'll make in your eternity it's important that you understand what God's revealed word says and understand what it means for you.
It is in your best interests to read and know God's word independently of any authority on earth. After all you're not accountable to other people but to God. Do not trust anyone but try what others say against God's word. The Bible is not so difficult that you cannot grasp it's main ideas. Read, study and put what religious leaders to the test.

The most important thing is to pray and allow the Holy Spirit teach us when we study the word of God so when others try to teach us we will know what is truth.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

2Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2Timothy 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

1John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him
